For The "We Don't Torture"-Files

In-other-words......when a President LIES, it only considered a Lie when it's about Sex....right?

It's not a lie if you believe it.

As stupid as the world of politics is the state department and the white house have at times defined waterboarding as not torture. Now any reasonable person can see that making a person feel as if their death is imminent in this manner is torture - and also that it is even effective. But the rest of us know that it is torture. We also can tell the difference between waterboarding and what saddam did - they are not even comparable.

So in short, it is wrong and it is effective in specific instances. It also tarnishes the image of the US - but not to the degree that opponents would have you believe. After all, if the enemy we are fighting uses it and thinks less of us for not using it, and we can't get any worse in thier eyes anyway, then it certainly doesn't tarnish our image in their eyes.

So does the civilised world think any less of us for practicing light torture against monsters? I would be willing to bet that a lot of Brits approve of it as it has been used.

Torture also opens us up to having our own troops tortured. Except that we do not practice it on POW's (legitimate soldiers) and the terrorists would do it anyway regardless of whether or not we do.

So yea, it is wrong - and understandable.
