I agree, sounds like a novel idea, the Military buying the better unit rather then just buy something that does not meet the standards they them self wanted, just to employ a few people.
And, it'll be cheaper in the long run!
Last I checked the Military was to protect American Jobs by making us safe and killing those who would attack us, thus making it safe for companies to grow and build the economy...not to simply employ them so they can have jobs and make money. I had checked out some of the info on Global Security and they seem to make a good case against Boeing.
To be clear on one point, the mission of the military isn't to protect American Jobs, it is to protect the Constitution, the jobs be damned. That's why the Oath of enlistment is to "...support and defend the Constitution of the United States, against all enemies, foreign and domestic...". Nowhere in there does it say anything about protecting anybody, about the economy, or any of the other things that so many people believe the military is supposed to do. The job is to defend the Constitution, because as long as it is intact, everything else should pretty much take care of itself.
