This kind of behavior is NEVER justified, regardless of what political party the perpetrator belongs to.
We all now know that Weiner is a LIAR, not only to his constituents in New York City, but to his wife and his family.
Whether or not Weiner broke the law is irrelevent. And expecting the VOTERS to decide Weiner's fate next year is historically not a good resolution to this "problem".
Weiner has no honor. Weiner has no integrity. Weiner is an egomaniac. Don't expect Weiner to suddenly do something honorable and resign.
Vitter should have resigned. Sanford should have resigned. Ensign should have resigned sooner. Clinton should have resigned. There are plenty of names out there who didn't do the honorable thing, and betrayed their families and their constituents.
I see so all people whos personal life is not perfact should be removed from office...so what do you want monks?
Unlike you I vote for leaders to get policy that advances what i want ...not leaders to be a family example of the perfect husband and wife.
I would advocate for Republicans to stay out the Weiner issue. If the Democratic Party wants to deal with the issue or not, let them do as they will.
Things like this have a way to backfire politically. Just look back to Bill Clinton. Did he deserve condemnation? Yes, and he got it. But what turns voters off is when your political opposition takes it to far and makes the whole issue about political gain.
Weiner may or may not recover from this scandal...his handling of it has been horrible to say the least...but eventually, if you drag a guy through the coals enough, most people will say "OK, he got what he deserved, now lets move on."
I expect elected officials to be held to a standard of honesty, core values, and integrity.
Having illicit affairs with other women when you are married, consorting with porn stars and other females via the internet, e-mailing pictures of your junk and other body parts to other women, and then lying about it to your constituents, your family, and the news media, is NOT the standard that I believe politicians should be living down to.
Anybody who defends Weiner or any other politicians who engage in this garbage, regardless of political party, is just as corrupt and untrustworthy as the politicians are.
Our society has become so permissive and so wrapped up in this "entitlement" attitude, it makes me sick.
I would agree, more so when everything that happened was online cheating...not even in person cheating....I don't recall him ever running as some kind of save the morals of marriage guy...if he had, it would hurt him alot more. sucks because he was a good voice for many dems I think...Kinda like Edwards was i think ( not that I think what each did is the same...Edwards was far far and away worse) Just like I think , at least at the time..before the party went even more nuts...
Also with the amount of sex scandal issues out there right now for Republicans...may not be the best time to cry to much here....
then you can stop supporting just about every elected official...none will ever live up to your Buddhist monk perfect person ideal.
We need leaders to make laws, and run the nation....Not looking for people to be made into saints...
Would you have no ethical standards at all?
I don't believe the standards presented are unreasonable. Truthseeker did not ask for a saint nor a monk.
I suspect that if Wiener had been honest as soon as he was outed he would have come through this cleanly - except with his wife. Politically he would have been forgiven for sending pics of his underwear. The American people do have standards and the bar is not set impossibly high.
