This observation from the Huffington Post draws an example of the sorry mess created by George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and their excusers, rationalizers and justifiers. It's presented in a logical fashion, with a specific example cited to support the contention.
Did you ever imagine, even in your wildest thoughts of fancy, that the United States would kidnap someone and hold them without charges? Could you have imagined that after two independent courts found the individual absolved from the accusations that the United States would continue to imprison him for seven and one-half years, and actually commit acts of torture against him? Well we did. We did it as part of Bush's policy. It will be a shameful part of our history, a time when we willingly threw away our moral standing in the world, and stood silent while evil, not too bright leaders led us down a slimy path. It will take decades to repair the damage, and in the short run only serves to harden the positions and views of those that would do us harm.
And some people didn't just vote for those descpicable people once, they did it twice!
