Fraternal congratulations are the order of the day for our Chinese comrades.

Who can deny the miracle that Chairman Mao and his wise successors have created from the degradation and misery pre-1949.

While China steadfastly traveled the socialist road, with spectacular economic growth and stupendous reserves of cash, the wicked capitalists have stupidly clung to obsolete doctrines that have turn the western "democracies" into cesspools of debt and a collapsing industrial base.

In China, they know how to treat the Madoffs and Enrons of this world.

Rhetoric; lacking (actual) content, of any kind.

You guerrilla-Republicans are tooooooooooooooooooo obvious.

I am very pleased that you have honoured me with the observation that I am one who uses rhetoric.

However, from your writing, I, possibly erroneously, gained the impression that you may..well...not be using the word rhetoric correctly.

As we all know

"...Rhetoric is one of the arts of using language as a means to persuade. Along with grammar and logic or dialectic, rhetoric is one of the three ancient arts of discourse. From ancient Greece to the late 19th Century, it was a central part of Western education, filling the need to train public speakers and writers to move audiences to action with arguments.[1] The very act of defining has itself been a central part of rhetoric, appearing among Aristotle's Topics.[2] The word is derived from the Greek ῥητορικός (rhētorikós), "oratorical",[3] from ῥήτωρ (rhḗtōr), "public speaker",[4] related to ῥημα (rhêma), "that which is said or spoken, word, saying",[5] and ultimately derived from the verb ἐρῶ (erô), "to speak, say".[6] In its broadest sense, rhetoric concerns human discourse.[7][8]

Boy, are you out of touch. China is communist/socialist in name and tradition only. Unless you have not noticed, without fanfare or rhetoric, China has changed from a socialist to a capitalist nation. The communist party members have become the Madoffs and Enrons of the world. They now have a filthy rich upper class, and an ever more impoverished underclass while still maintaining a totalitarian oppressive government. The worst of all systems.

That is where the, "...economic growth and stupendous reserves of cash..." have come from, not from socialism.

Assuming that they really are not communist anymore we can now add up the total of the people the communist regime has killed. Communist China has killed over 100,000,000. That's one hundred thousand thousand or 100 million. More than any other governmental system ever.

Will capitalism have a pacifying effect on that totalitarian government? It looks that way.

The Chinese were capitalist before Mao. They still killed a lot of each other.

A hilarious web site that makes the amazing claim.

"...This would mean that American forces murdered by shell and bomb some 400 to 5,000 Vietnamese, most likely some 800. For all American forces throughout South Vietnam, this works out to about 5 to 60 Vietnamese killed per month from 1965 to 1972, which seem prudent brackets on the monthly American democide by bomb or shell..."

So after dropping 6 million tons of bombs with the usual US precision ( i.e. very poor) on the country of Vietnam, only 800 people were killed.

Anyone else have any problem believing this figure ?

It is bizarre (think I'm using that word correctly :D) how Stalin raves about Communism which has proved repeatedly to have a terrible track record on multiple fronts and in the same breath praises something like China's economic growth that came from them becoming more Capitalistic on one hand while forcing their people to work for much less than in a real Capitalist country.

I guess this is one of those the end justifies the means conversations... ya think?:)

What to you mean by Capital ?

How much reading by Marx or Milton Friedman have you done ? A whole book ?

Do you think that the USSR and China were able to build dams and factories without financial planning. loans and payments ?

I do not consider an argument base on dialectial materialism a "rave".

I am too old to have been to a "rave" but I hear they are jolly exciting with lots of loud repetitive music that you need love drugs to appreciate.

Sort of like Philip Glass without the talent or subtlety.

An interesting point. One would have to examine the murder rates before and after to know if the murderous communist regime was just as bad as the Chinese before or worse. Though it was still murderous either way.

Will capitalism have a pacifying effect on that totalitarian government? It looks that way.
Like capitalism had a pacifying effect on all the right-wing South American military governments and their death squads? Or, like capitalism had a pacifying effect on our American Indians? No system of government is innocent of murder. To interject that communism has killed more people than capitalism is a pointless and childish version of: "My dad is stronger than your dad."
