I don't get this
A country that is full of christian funda-mentalists fights tooth and nail to deny this to the most needy in society.
I don't understand how people can claim to be christians and be so opposed to helping others.
And I really don't understand how the many beneficiaries of such a scheme can be whipped up into actively opposing it just by using the dreaded 's' word.
Healthcare and education should be freely available to all citizens in a devloped country.
I know the US has been misled about the UK NHS but the truth is that anyone can get good medical care free at the point of usage in the UK. Is it as good as the best privately funded care? Not always. But in the UK you can buy private health insurance too if you want to so you can get anything the private sector can offer if you can afford it and very good care if you cannot. This is why depsite the nonesense the right uses to demonise free healthcare the argument doesn't stack up.
And please don't say that the poor choose to not buy health insurance. One third of US workers earn nine dollars per hour or less. You cannot affrord the luxury of health insurance on this level of income.
The vehemence of the opposition to the idea of free healthcare in the US is disturbing. especilaly when so much of taxpayers' money is spent on killing people in foreign countries.
Is that christian?
Actually, it probably is.
