Hardly.
The game is long.

A Congress is all you won.
For two years.

What is your plan?
How is the GOP going to GOVERN?

(yawn)

Yet another leftists hoping we'll believe that iffen it ain't 100%, dyed-in-the-wool, dictionary-definition Socialism with all the trimmings, then it "isn't socialism".

Not much different from some guy on the Titanic who says they don't have to begin any maneuvers or rescue operations until the 3rd row of windows has gone below the surface. Nope, the ship "isn't sinking" until then.

Words do have meanings, and, most generally, those definitions are found in the dictionary.

It ain't "iffen 100%, dyed in the wool dictionary definition socialism with all the trimmings." It ain't socialism at all. If you see a deer cross the road, do you say, "Hey look! an elephant!" because you've decided that elephant and deer are the same thing?

You'll be telling me next that conservatives want government to stay as it is now, while liberals support liberty and freedom.

Yep, but libs and foolish moderates do not visit those sites or any other sites that criticize their Messiah and the kooky leftist beliefs. As a result, they have no clue what is going on, but they think they know what is going on. This makes them most delusional.

Conservatives generally want the government to balance the budget, secure the borders, regulate interstate commerce, defend against enemies, and stay out of our business.

Liberals want to expand that to include a safety net, education, and health care.

Socialists want the government to own and run the means of production.

Social authoritarians want the government to determine personal choices.

Social libertarians, like conservatives, want the government to stay out of our personal business.

There. I hope that clears up political terminology and philosophies.

What is "personal business" isn't just what liberals say it is.

The heart and soul of conservatism is freedom - to be free to do what you want as long as you don't harm someone else.

Yes, conservatism and social libertarianism do have that philosophy. Often conservatives are actually social authoritarians. Why do you think that is? It seems to me that the two philosophies are mutually contradictory.

Sorry, not so. Conservatives are NEVER "social authoritarians", whatever that is. Some Republicans may be, but conservatives aren't.

Unless the "personal choice" you're talking about, is the choice of whether to murder somebody, steal from them, etc. Then yes, conservatives support government enjoining that. But not for "authoritarian purposes". It's to protect people's rights and encourage freedom.

It seems to me that the two philosophies are mutually contradictory.
Correct.

"Conservative" isn't a group, it's a philosophy. It's the idea that government should stay out of people's affairs and lives, except for necessary functions that private people and groups CANNOT do, for protecting their rights. Foreign relations, national defense, dispassionate criminal pursuit and prosecution, etc.

"Republican", OTOH, is a group.

Oh we are most authoritarian...to kooky libs that is. They want to use their drugs and kill their babies without consequence. They also do not like those of us who believe in God. That is a no-no...to kooky libs...

Plus we believe in limited government, which to a lib means we want the poor to stave to death. Welfare programs are sacrosanct to libs...so of course they think we are authoritarians for wanting to LIMIT welfare...

...which proves their are mentally ill.

Absolutely ass-backwards. The leftwingers are the peerless authoritarians of the universe. It's almost funny: they want to control how much water is in your toilet tank. They are making everyone use flourescent bulbs that make everyone look like a corpse by 2012. They want to push people into dangerous tiny cars so that they can "save the planet". They want to tell you where you can pray. They want to obliterate religion from the town square. They want to tell everyone whom they can hire. etcetcetcetc

I'm afraid I misspoke. Of course, real conservatives are not social authoritarians, but often SDC (self described conservatives) are.

1)No, conservatism has that lip service, Libertarianism has the philosophy. Conservatives give lip service to many Libertarian values but if you look at policy they utterly fail. "Small government, fiscal conservatism, individual freedom & personal responsibility." or so the campaign line goes.

2) If by often you mean 99% of the time.

Blaming conservatives for the actions of RINOs appears to a defect leftwingers have in their genes. :D

Do you support the war on drugs?

Do you wish to have Gay marriage banned?

Should prostitution be criminalized?

Should the government reflect Christian values?
