The Republican Party Has been Hijacked !

The Republican party used to be the party of such intelligent and reasonable politicians as Eisenhower, Gerald Ford and Barry Goldwater . But lately, it has been hijacked by a bunch of
people who are not even conservatives, but radical right-wing reactionaries who want to undo all the enormous social progress America has made in the past 50 years or so and " take America back" -
right back to the dark ages !
The party is now in the grip of of pathetically ignorant, narrow-minded, stupid ,intolerant
inbred Hillbilly Bible-thumping creationist, homophobic anti-choice yahoos who although they don't admit it , want to turn America into theocratic evangelical Christian state which would be little better than the Islamic theocracies in Iran and Saudi Arabia .
Powerful members and former members of congress and governors such as Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry , Jim DeMnt, James Inhofe , Rick Sanctimonioustorum et al.
Not to mention members of the odious religious right such as Pat Robertson, James Dobson ,
and their ilk who have so much influence on the republican party .
Add to this the baleful influence of reight-wing blowhard talkshow hosts, bloggers and commentators such as Michael Sewage , Rush Lamebrain , Glenn Blech ,
Anthrax Coulter , Sean Insanity and others (my spellings).
The late Barry Goldwater used to call himself a conservative, but by today's loony political standards , he was a flaming liberal .
But now, any one whose politicals views are even slightly less right-wing than the late and unlamented senator Jesse Helms, Attila the Hun, Genghis Khan , Joe Mc Carthy,
J. Edgar hoover and Archie Binker is automatically labeled a "socialist,Marxist and communist".
Conservatives today, most of them at least, don't even know what these things are .
But they're absurdly paranoid about communism coming to America from president Obama , despite the fact that he is no more a Marxist and communist than the Pope is a pro-choice atheist and Mahmoud Ahmedinijad a fervent supporter of Israel.
Let's face it- communism is dead, thank heaven, dead as a fish on the beach . There is about as much chance of it coming to America as Mahmoud Ahmedinijad converting to Judaism and settling in Israel .
The few actual communists left in America don't even consider Obama to be one .
Conservatives in America have their panties in a bunch over the prospect of the Obama administration supposedly "redistributing wealth ". But republican presidents and politicos in Washington have been redistributing wealth for ages now, but as reverse Robin Hoods, stealing from the middle class and the poor to give to those already wealthy .
And people wonder why th eU.S. economy is such a smess !

The Republican party would be better off with more AUH2O. Sadly, Libertarian and classical liberal philosophies are no longer welcome in either of the two major parties.

You claim that the Republican party has been hijacked by Conservatives, yet the party is about to nominate yet another Progressive Republican, Romney, just like it's other past nominations of Progressive Republicans; Bush, Dole, Bush, McCain. It seems that if the party actually had been hijacked by "bible thumping" Conservatives, then one of the "bible thumping" Conservative candidates, such as Santorum, would have won the nomination. How do you explain his loss?

Now as to the "social progress" you believe the Republican party wishes to undo... Could you be more specific? Give me your best three examples, I would very much like to discuss the issue.

And people wonder why th eU.S. economy is such a smess !

Some of us know why it's a mess, government intervention into the economy. You are correct to point out that both Republicans and Democrats do this but that doesn't make it right.
