China Aims to Save Crew as Somalis Threaten Execution

China is making a concerted attempt to rescue members of a bulk carrier seized yesterday by Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean, a government spokesman said.

The pirates have threatened to execute the 25 captive Chinese sailors should China’s navy attempt a rescue, Radio Television Hong Kong reported, citing an associate of the gang it didn’t identify. The navy is preparing a rescue plan, the station reported earlier, citing unnamed military sources.

All this six days ago, and there is nothing new, at least not on the net. What will happen next? Will the Somalis execute their hostages? What will be the next move by the Chinese?

It's high time for an international effort to get rid of the pirates, don't you think?

Re: Somali pirates take Chinese hostages

If the country was not being kept so poor, we would not be having this issue.

You mean that the $$$$ that the Somalian Government is making from the sales of weapons/ammunition and most likely supporting these pirates so that they have the fuel/equipment/boats/cell phones to run their operations in the manner that they have been isn't somehow/someway making more money so that entire operation just keeps cycling back into the system?
