How did Trump defeat the Bush and Clinton dynasties and his other opponents? The media (sometimes even Fox news) were fanatically opposed to Trump. These opponents massively outspent Trump.

The Trump technique is to make outrageous statements and pick fights with the media. This works because any publicity is good publicity and the media is very unpopular. Trump made sure he got all the attention. He sucked up all the oxygen and the other candidates couldn't breathe.

Trump also presented himself as an outsider at a time when the people are disgusted by insiders: the politically correct plutocrats and their lackeys.

I think Trump was lucky as the Hillary camp was undermined by the e-mail scandal, losing her double-digit lead over it. Otherwise, Hillary could have been the duly elected president. The media kept reporting the scandal in October and US voters totally lost confidence in her by November. The corporate media damaged Hillary's reputation severely as it's always hungry for scandalous stories to boost its profitability.

That's how you win elections. Get enough publicity, present yourself as whatever the voters seem to want at the time, come up with bumper sticker solutions to complex issues (Who knew they were really so complex?), come up with a slogan that fits on a hat, claim that the election is rigged, repeat over and over that your opponent is a crook, and you're in. It certainly worked with Trump.

Now, there's the little issue of actually governing, of getting anything done that will benefit the country, of bringing people together and of enhancing US standing in the world. That's a bit different.

Yes, and has been for some time now. That is a good change.

Right, because all of the statistics before that time were fake.
