Although a vanquished country in WWⅡ, the Jap govt has been developing their military power all the time.
Recently, Japan has built world’s biggest diesel-electric submarines which are the world’s biggest and most advanced ones. And it continue to built until 2015.

It has researched submarine of next generation from 2005 and the new submarine will be finished in 2021. Japan plans to change its trategic and the regional defense will be changed from Russia to China.

The moral nature of the Japanese people appears to have changed since WWII. A lot of this had to do with their utter defeat forcing them to face the folly of their militaristic ways, but part is due (I believe) to their post war economic boom and the resultant global interconnections that they made. How much of this will endure if Japan develops more military capability is hard to predict. If the US is no longer seen as a reliable guarantor of Japan's security, they will be forced to deal with the strategic threat posed by China. I would expect to see them develop nuclear weapons and several delivery systems to affect some level of deterrence. I don't anticipate they'd go beyond that, and only if they felt the US was unreliable.

Japan has a limitation written into their constitution that limits their military to a "self defense force" only. They suffered greatly in WWII and blame it on the military system for the destruction. Thus, the Japanese people do not support an expanded military.
Furthermore, due to the fact that they are the only country to have been bombed by nuclear bombs, the people in Japan generally view nuclear capability in a very negative light, to the point where many of them do not want American nuclear vessels visiting Japanese ports. So, it is very unlikely that they would develop nuclear offensive weapons of their own. Their repulsion of anything nuclear may be why they are building diesel-electic submarines which is using WWII technology.

This means nothing. We have many limitations in our Constitution and it has not stopped libs and progressives from doing whatever they please.

We may need Japan's military might to help contain China if the Chinese prove to be aggressors as all previous communists nations have been.

It did not stop Bush-Cheney either from enabling the torturing of suspects by the military. See: "Taxi to Nowhere"

Just what "military might" do they have?

Yes, I do.

I certainly believe that Japan can and deserves to become the supreme military power it once was. It has already healed itself well and if it could finda legal way to, could expand as it used to as well. In this decedant age, we could use a little national opposition, or declaration of strength to inspire us all.

i think if Japan wants then it will be the most powerful nation in the world. They are the real citizen in the planet.

Japan doesn't have enough people to become a powerful naval force. China's will be, if it isn't already.
