An undercover investigation by Channel 4 News reveals how Cambridge Analytica secretly campaigns in elections across the world. Bosses were filmed talking about using bribes, ex-spies, fake IDs and sex workers:
I think they already do. Apart from pictures of pets, kids, funny faces and ads trying to sell you anything you showed the slightest interest in, they are generally ignored.
The only real issue here is if there was actual collusion...let's see what the evidence of that is. The "entrapment" stuff is shady in my opinion but its nothing new either sadly.
But big data on campaigns is nothing new - nor is using 3rd parties to "attack" while the candidate stays above the fray. At this point you can track user IP addresses (depending on a few factors) and run targeted ads to people on their phones in certain apps etc. Big data in elections is only going to play a bigger and bigger role going forward.
Yes there are people doing this for a living and it's based on demonstrated success getting you to buy stuff based on targeted ads.
These guys are claiming to do something very different and I seriously doubt it works.
Snake oil salesmen.
It's the next version of letters, postcards, etc trying to change your mind. Do you know anyone whose mind ever changed on this sort of thing ?
