Right now, I don't think it will ever happen, regardless of which party is in power
It might. Never, is never what you think it is.....
We can start by getting rid of the antique senators who are no longer relevant, and have less to lose in the reality of
their lives relative to legislation they engage in that affects every American. It isn't a "party" that has power.
It's people within the party, who attain power because of their affiliations, and misuse it for their own personal financial or egotistical benefit.
The answer isn't even term limits. If a Congress person knows they can only serve two terms it will affect the way they vote, because they won't have to answer for it down the road. If Congress knows that America will kick them out of their ivory tower at the drop of a pin, regardless of whatever "good" deed they may have done in the past, then we will have leverage.
There are too many Congress people that have been lifers. That needs to change, period.
The problem is with your statement, which is true. "regardless of which party is in power". We are so complacent with THEM having the power, and NOT US, that we automatically assume that we must submit to the whims of the party with the most members, and we have given them that power forever.
There needs to be change in America. This is one of the major changes that must begin with this election.
Then MAYBE, some of the other issues that WE scream about will be heard.
Obam-ba is out there campaigning for Dingell, an 84 YEAR OLD MAN.
Why? Because he thinks that old man is "good for the country" or just another barely still warm body that can cast a vote to feed HIS agenda?
Do you really think that this president's agenda is what the American people want?
I don't happen to think so, and the polls support me. November will tell how much.
I'm still hopeful, and I still vote.
