and they're right

An overwhelming 64 percent of people surveyed said big government was the biggest threat to the country, compared to just 26 percent who said big business is their gravest concern and 8 percent who picked big labor.

considering that the only segment of labor that is big is government unions thats kind of a false notion. not good news for the dems or the RINOS either.

If you didn't have big Government intervention the US economy would have collapsed as the entire banking system would have failed. The great depression would have looked like a bubble. You cannot have a large complex society run on the same basis as a farm.

If you doubt this just hang on a few years and watch the US begging for socialism. It's ludicrous over consumption and contamination is amongst the least sustainable eco systems on earth.

It takes roughly 8 times as much land to sustain an American as it does to sustain someone on the African continent. And what is being achieved by this excess?

Check out the obesity levels in the US.

Extreme gluttony sums up the US but like all parties....it's over

if we3 didn't have such a bloated and overreaching government there would have been no housing bubble or mortgage loan crisis. or Great Depression for that matter. you aspire to an African lifestyle ? stick with the left and you'll have a dictator and squalor.

The bigger the Government, the higher the corruption. Why is this? We voted them all into power and the idea of replacing them is too much trouble. Our Federal government gave Freddie and Fanny permission to make loans and then trade them around for profit. This became such a money maker that even Newt Gingrich got into the action and made millions of dollars. The result of these over-bloated loans was the crash that brought them all down. I believe this was done when President Bush 43 made a deal with Barney Franks just to promote home ownership for people who had poor incomes.

I have been a Ron Paul supporter since 1992 when the NAFTA trade agreements were passed that most of us knew our corporations would move off shore. Ross Perot tried to warn America but it took too much effort to know what he was talking about. The voters have destroyed our once proud government leaving no leadership of integrity to be supported in 2012.

America is not the leader of the free world it is an imperialist nation in decline. If you compared the marketing of the US with the facts you will see a very wide gap. Massive social inequality, institutional racism, huge drug and alcohol dependency, massive crime figures, huge levels of obesity, high levels of adult illiteracy, significant violations of human rights, war mongering on manufactured justifications etc. Oh and the US economy is FUBAR. China will overtake the US econonmically soon but I doubt you will be singing the virtues of communism. And if China called in her debts now the US economy would collapse instantly.

Before big Government the rich treated the poor as a commodity. They were above the law and created systems to esnure the poor remained enslaved either socially or actually. If the dice weren't loaded this way you might have a case but they are and it is the job of Government to do something to correct this.

That's true... it would have collapsed due to massive government intervention in that economy to start with. It's a standard big-government tactic to mess something up, let it get really bad, and then offer government "help" to "fix" it. Most recently it's happened with the economy (CRA and lawsuits to enforce quotas), health care (FDA, Medicare and Obamacare), and firearms(Education to teach people to regard firearms with terror, Fast&Furious). But it's been going on since the 1920s, if not earlier.

Healthcare is a great example. The US has one of the worst healthcare systems in the developed world. If you aggregate provision across the entire population the US offering is grim
