It is the only way


Russia was socialist under Lenin and it was working pretty well


Then along came Stalin and totalitarian communism took it's place and like any totalitarianism it was appalling


But let me ask you a question.


Did you pay for your education?


I didn't pay for mine. The state did


And state provided education has done more for more people than anything else


Next comes equality laws


Next comes affordable healthcare


Next comes universal suffrage


These are all either socialist policies or were championed by the left


Mostly this has happened over the last hundred years


Before that we had a thousands if years of unbridled capitalism


Which made for a hideous existence for all but a tiny minority


At the heart of socialism is the view that all people are equal and that nobody has a greater right than anyone else to the fruits of the land which capitalists took by brutality and cunning many years ago condemning most people to a short miserable life where the poor were seen as a tool to be used and abused by the rich


The rich still behave like this largely today but fortunately most countries have moved to the left and their ability to abuse the poor has been limited
