Actually God could have seeded a planet with a primitive plant that would be able to photosynthesize and survive inhospitable conditions for mammals, that would have all the genetic material to evolve as conditions changed.  At least this is what will be attempted on Mars shortly, and in tens or hundreds of thousands of years in the future when we have amassed Gods knowledge.  So son what it means to be made in Gods image, is that you have his ability.  Science is proving this every day
