I agree with your idea of better intel sharing, and that the whole intelligence world is far to political and full of power barons.

 

With that said, here is where we don't agree.  It doesn't take a huge leap to secure a facility from 98% of all potential bombs and firearms.  There are sniffing devices that can be placed at entry ways which could alert security within seconds of anyone passing that has handled nitrates.  With video capture devices, which are already in place, this could be done so quickly and smoothly the security process would be almost unnoticeable.

 

If you think this can't be done, guess again.  It is already in place at several international airports and all large international casino's.  Caesar's Palace has better bomb detection and security than our airports.
