So what about vertical farming?

It was posted that vertical farming was (a) liberal and (b) always a failure. The only evidence was someone heard about a $5.00 lettuce. That is just one crop, and not a terribly essential one nutrition wise.

Vertical farming is a highly capital intensive process. It is not something that peasant farmers engage in. It is rarely. if ever, a system subsidized by governments. So why is it "liberal"?

No real proof was given as to why it is said to be a failure. If growing crops indoors with grow lights is vertical farming, then it seems to have been exceptionally successful when growing cannabis.

Obviously, some crops are likely to be more lucrative than others. Location of the vertical farm and the market for its produce are crucial.

It is a new technology. LIke all new technologies, it needs to be developed and experimented with.
I see no reason to be opposed to it. People will buy vertical farmed produce based on price and quality, just as they do "organic" produce. I say this in quotes because "organic" is not always what you think it should be.
