Assange's legal options narrow

LONDON – Julian Assange's legal options narrowed Thursday as the WikiLeaks founder lost an appeal against a court order for his arrest and his British lawyer said authorities knew his precise location.

Sweden's Supreme Court upheld a order to detain the 39-year-old Australian for questioning over allegations of rape and sexual molestation that could lead to his extradition. The former computer hacker has been out of the public eye for nearly a month, although attorney Mark Stephens insisted that authorities knew how to find him.

The British refusing to Arrest WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. They say they know where he is and hes a wanted man. Thats like the LAPD not arresting SirHan SirHan when he shot Bobby Kennedy. Boycotts do work remember the 1980 moscow games that Jimmy Carter boycotted because the Soviets invaded afgainstan? If i were Obama i warn the British government turn over WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to face trial or we wont go to the 2012 games in london. Remember the people dont spend top dollars to watch the events they came to see the Americans. Just like the Stadiums in Moscow didnt fill up not even the opening ceremonies didnt sellout. they were 15,000 tickets left in the opening ceremonies in an 80,000 seat stadium. Not even Basketball events sold out ot Track n field events. You needs us in order to be successful in marketing Fans came to watch the Americans cause were the Babe Ruths of olympic games. Like the 1936 games they came to see this black guy Jessie Owens. Supposed FDR did boycott Hitlers games ill bet you it wouldnt got soldout all events. We made Hitler successful in the 36 games. So Brits have 2 choices to make. Ether turn over Julian Assange. Or you wont see this guy

All this will do is deny those talented young athletes from the US who have trained hard and will see their medals vanish.

History will record other people as the victors and their names will enter the record and stay there lond after the boycott is forgotten.

Assange should be given a gold medal for showing the US is supporting the drug trade in Afghanistan - the drug trade is probably the reason for the war.

Comrade Stalin

Stalin FYI your country suffered economicly because of Boycott. 1980 games was a total failure. Now just imagine Americans won go to London better yet we wont be playing in Wimbledon nether.

You are very funny.

64 nations, just about all of them lickspittle clients of the US participated in boycott the 1980 Olympics, allegedly because of the attempts by the USSR to save the Afghanistan Revolution.

The USSR failed, mainly due to the fact that the US armed and financed religious extremists. The consequences of this are well known to all.

Despite the boycott

* Italy won four times as many gold medals as it did in Montreal and France multiplied its gold medal results by three. Romania won more gold medals than it had at any previous Olympics. In terms of total medals, this was Ireland's most successful Olympics since Melbourne 1956. The same was true for Great Britain. "Third World" athletes qualified for more events and took more medals than at any previous Olympics.

* 21% of the competitors were female — a higher percentage than at any previous Olympics.

* There were 203 events — more than at any previous Olympics.

* 36 World records, 39 European records and 74 Olympic records were set. In total this was more records than were set at Montreal.

* New Olympic records were set 241 times over the course of the competitions and world records were beaten 97 times.

* Prince Alexandre de Merode of Belgium, Chairman of the IOC Medical Commission, stated: "There were 9,292 drug tests. None positive".

* Four Olympic records set in 1980 still stand as of 2008[update] — East German women 4×100 metre relay 41.6 seconds; Shot Put Ilona Slupianek of East Germany 22.41 metres; Soviet Nadezhda Olizarenko 800 metres, 1:53.43; Modern Pentathlon Soviet Anatoli Starostin 5568 points.

* The impact of the boycott was mixed. Some events, like field hockey and equestrian sports, were hard hit. Others like boxing, judo, rowing, swimming, track and field and weightlifting actually had more participants than in 1976.

* Eight nations appeared for the first time at an Olympics — Angola, Botswana, Laos, Nicaragua, Seychelles, Mozambique and Cyprus. Zimbabwe also made its first appearance under that name; it had previously competed as Rhodesia.

* Athletes from 25 countries won Olympic gold (the same total as in the 1984 Games and one fewer than in the 1976 Games) and competitors from 36 countries became Olympic medalists.

Comrade Stalin

And why have the americans been so successful at the Olympics track and field ?

"..Less than two months before the flame is lit for the Sydney Olympics, the United States is facing serious allegations of cheating from its own former anti-doping watchdog.

According to Dr Wade Exum, who ran the American Olympic movement's doping control program, more than half of all US athletes caught doping before the Atlanta Games went unpunished and some of them even went on to win medals.

Dr Exum has quit his US Olympic Committee (USOC) job and is taking his former employer to court, claiming his anti-drug efforts were sabotaged.

His allegations couldn't have come at a worse time for the Olympic movement, which is struggling to maintain the credibility of a drug-testing program unable to detect a whole range of new high-tech performance-enhancing substances.

Comrade Stalin

And how many Gold Medals the Soviets won in their home turf? Is it embarassing the see Italy Sweeden and other nations kick the Soviets ass and not America? So in Other words America is the reason why Soviets get pumped up on their games. Ans What Happened in Basketball? you couldnt win that nether but sure you cheat your way outta Basketball in the 1972 games. We had you beat!! But the Refs allowed you to win. In fact the Olympic Basketball refs are no differant than from the NFL refs who screw with my Ravens. In fact those Refs are far more worse than the WWE refs. But You couldnt beat us in 1980. USA Hockey team had their asses handled to the Soviets.

You guys Cheated here
