I think the thing to understand is that there are a few subsets of ACORN that provide services to the communities that otherwise can't be replaced. What I don't understand is why there hasn't been a full and complete IRS audit of the national chapter followed by the same scrutiny for the regional chapters.
In my opinion, this would weed out a lot of the bad seeds quickly and help understand the difference between wasted money and useful spending. Helping communities is good, but being the paid foot soldiers for a political machine isn't something my tax dollars should be paying for.
