Obama Regime Secretly Seizing Your Phone Records
The National Security Agency is currently collecting the telephone records of millions of US customers of Verizon, one of America's largest telecoms providers, under a top secret court order issued in April.

The order, a copy of which has been obtained by the Guardian, requires Verizon on an "ongoing, daily basis" to give the NSA information on all telephone calls in its systems, both within the US and between the US and other countries.

The document shows for the first time that under the Obama administration the communication records of millions of US citizens are being collected indiscriminately and in bulk – regardless of whether they are suspected of any wrongdoing.

I'm curious as to why the fuss over meta data when NSA has had its electronic ears on every second of conversation for I dont even know how long.

if its fishing for dirt then sure thats annoying but given what we now know about the administrstion's willingness to use its seizure powersvfor political purposesvits minor compared to conversations.

i take some satisfaction knowing how mind numbing it is to listen to the calls between the missus and her idiot sister.

They're not listening to calls. They are just collecting phone calls for storage. Call number, end number, date, time, location.

Apparently the phone companies purge their data ever so often, and the government wants to keep track of all calls in-perpetuity. They have been doing this for some time now.

After all, they have to have something to store in the new NSA Data Complex in Utah.

Yes, they have had their computers listening to all calls, scanning whatever has been whizing around the internet etc for years and years. That story is breaking (again) now that the press is enjoying a little blood in the water. The difference and the reason for the new warehouse is that theyre keeping all this stuff. Before they were content to sniff it out as it was in transit and then let it go just keeping what was interesting.

Interestingly enough, when they got caught snatching news guy stuff they crossed a line they will rue crossing. The administration has forgotten how their bread gets buttered. Its always a fatal flaw when you start to believe the hype people manufacture for you.

Even the NYT laid into Obama

New York Times editorial board says administration has 'lost all credibility'

yes ma'am, could get interesting.

Just did. Now the Washington comPost is reporting this other secret program called PRISM

U.S. mining data from 9 leading Internet firms; companies deny knowledge

The National Security Agency and the FBI are tapping directly into the central servers of nine leading U.S. Internet companies, extracting audio and video chats, photographs, e-mails, documents, and connection logs that enable analysts to track one target or trace a whole network of associates, according to a top-secret document obtained by The Washington Post.

The program, code-named PRISM, has not been made public until now. It may be the first of its kind. The NSA prides itself on stealing secrets and breaking codes, and it is accustomed to corporate partnerships that help it divert data traffic or sidestep barriers. But there has never been a Google or Facebook before, and it is unlikely that there are richer troves of valuable intelligence than the ones in Silicon Valley.

Makes one wonder how many other things the government is doing, but not telling us.

Dipshit Harry Reid says its no big deal....this isn't anything brand new. Oh....okay, that makes it right.

No doubt NSA is doing like the IRS and collecting data on right wingers....we are so dangerous to their hegemony.
