True, they are free to exercise their majority (which is getting smaller all the time), but that which is born through reconciliation can be repealed through reconciliation when the looming power shift occurs. If they want to legislate something enduring, they should listen more and rule less. I think we call that governing, but it's been so long since we've witnessed that in this country, I think we've forgotten what it looked like.

Theoretically yes, realistically, no. Doing tax cuts by reconciliation is as simple as flipping a switch... you can always flip the switch the other direction, turn off the tax cuts and easily undo what has been done.

Using reconciliation to pass Obamacare will be nearly impossible to reverse and the Democrats know this, in fact they are counting on it. Long term, it gives Democrats one more permanent and unsustainable entitlement program filled with voters who can be easily manipulated into supporting the Democrat party. As far as the Democrat party is concerned, the more people totally dependent on government the better.
