My neighbor to the south continues to make wise choices as the latest Rasmussen Poll (8-12) shows Obama leads McCain by 10%, 47% to 37%. When “leaners” are included, it’s Obama 52% to 42%. Oregon has been a state that has voted Democrat the last 5 presidential elections.

Btw the latest Rasmussen Poll of Washington state gives Obama a 12% lead. The Pacific NW is definitely Obama country. If only the rest of the country was as progressive and forward thinking has we are here.

I think there will be the big surprise that a whole lot of Obama supporters don't have land lines and are completely cellular.

They don't even get polled. More good news for Senator Obama... and the nation!

can we bet on this forum?

I think Obama will take Oregon and Washington but we could bet on by how many points. and we could bet on swing states and stuff like that.

I cant think of any way to pay eachother though when we win. It would have to be something in posts. but I like to bet, its fun.

Of all the states what is the two biggest swing states this time around?

Well Ohio is always important in the swing of things... :D But this time I think there are at least 3 or 4 additional states that are seriously in play that usually aren't for the Democrats.

It will be an interesting election night. I bet every House of Politics junkie will be glued to the returns.

I will be, I might even take a vacation day the following day so I can spend the day reading about who voted what and where.

Obama or McCain, one thing I hope for is a clear winner by midnight. No recounts or contested states. Just a real clear winner

Me too!

And yet again... Me too (as long as that clear winner is over 6' tall!):)

Honestly.. I need to know what you all see in Obama?
Read and learn:

I can promise you NOT ONE BOT will respond with things they like about his policy. It will all be flowery rhetoric - regurgitated from their bellies full of propaganda - and/or McCain bashing.

As for you, you better watch out I understand a bunch of mean old Socialists are coming after you, FF, and Libs and worst of all ....they even have black faces.

So Popeye.... Pick ANY ONE of those and defend it as being good for America based on the SPECIFICS being offered in his flowery rhetoric.

As for you, you better watch out I understand a bunch of mean old Socialists are coming after you, FF, and Libs and worst of all ....they even have black faces.
How much do you value Free Speech? Enough that you would defend my right to say something you don't agree with? I would defend yours...

I don't have much "Hope" that you would,
I don't "Believe" the Left wants to protect my rights,
I don't want the "Change" Obama is peddling...

Kudo's to you though... for making it through an entire post without bashing McCain or Bush.

# Bring Government into the 21st Century: Barack Obama will use technology to reform government and improve the exchange of information between the federal government and citizens while ensuring the security of our networks. Obama believes in the American people and in their intelligence, expertise, and ability and willingness to give and to give back to make government work better.

1. Obama will appoint the nation’s first Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to ensure that our government and all its agencies have the right infrastructure, policies and services for the 21st century. The CTO will ensure the safety of our networks and will lead an interagency effort, working with chief technology and chief information officers of each of the federal agencies, to ensure that they use best-in-class technologies and share best practices.
2. The CTO will have a specific focus on transparency, by ensuring that each arm of the federal government makes its records open and accessible as the E-Government Act requires. The CTO will also focus on using new technologies to solicit and receive information back from citizens to improve the functioning of democratic government.
3. The CTO will also ensure technological interoperability of key government functions. For example, the Chief Technology Officer will oversee the development of a national, interoperable wireless network for local, state and federal first responders as the 9/11 commission recommended. This will ensure that fire officials, police officers and EMTs from different jurisdictions have the ability to communicate with each other during a crisis and we do not have a repeat of the failure to deliver critical public services that occurred in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
4. In the 21st century, our economic success will depend not only on economic analysis but also on technological sophistication and direct experience in this powerful engine of our economy. In an Obama administration, the government’s economic policy-making organizations and councils will include individuals with backgrounds in our technology industry.
