Tea Party groups trying to select their own candidates at the state level were told to get in line with their national handler's choices and quit trying to shut out national manipulation of their states elections. They were also told to forget about forming a third party.
The Tea Pary movement was organized and supported by big oil, big business, and the Republican party elite. They are herded around by former Republican House Majority leader Richard Armey and oil billionaire David Koch and supported by big insurance companies like United Health Group.
Big oil and big business are trying to make sure they stack the congress in their favor.
Since the only purpose of the Tea Party is to follw the existing Republican Party line, and since it was mobilized by the existing Republican elite, they have been referred to as an Astroturf organization rather than a grassroots organization.
