It used to be that the prices of items were tagged at the supermarket, but to save money, they stopped doing this because it cost money to price items and they had UPC labels to update prices. So they put the prices on the shelves. But of course, often they raised the price on the database without changing the price on the shelf. So what was listed as on sale for $1.79 on the shelf rang up as $1.99 on the register. Unless you are the sort of person that goes to the market with a marker to write down every price, you are likely to be overcharged.

So then they take a picture of every customer and determine which customers are the least likely to challenge the price at the register by age, race, and sex.

The Winn Dixie store down the street from where I live advertises special bargain prices, and you will see the prices on the shelves. But unless you enter your phone number or present a store ID card, they will charge you the former, higher price.

If the previous record shows that a customer paid the higher updated price or the customer did not bother to provide his "loyal customer discount" card, then they could program the system to add a dime or so to any price.

Don't worry about prices. Harris and her communist mob will set prices and wages for businesses after they seize control.
