90 percent of Americans say economy stinks

New York (CNNMoney) – Three years after a financial crisis pushed the country deep into recession, an overwhelming number of Americans - 90% - say that economic conditions remain poor.
The number, reported Friday in a new CNN/ORC International Poll, is the highest of Barack Obama's presidency and a significant increase from the 81% who said conditions were poor in June.

If accurate and it stays high by election time, BO has NO CHANCE.

I heard Dick Morris speak on the coming election. He predicts BO and the Dems will be blown out...completely. He said the Rs might have 60 seats in the Senate and overwhelming majorities in the House. He also claimed the Rs will undo everything BO has done. They will cut spending dramatically along with regulations and gov agencies. This will result in run away inflation as interest rates raise much like Reagan dealt with after Jimma F'ed up everything. But, he said the US will rebound in 2015 and grow at an astounding rate and once again be the shining city upon the hill.

Thanks to liberalism we will have to suffer through more hard times before things get better.

are the other 10% federal govt employees ?

It seems there are always a few who can't see the obvious. There are still 12% who think Congress is doing a good job, for example.

The economy stinks, most of us know it, and it therefore doesn't look good for the Obama camp. Let's not underestimate the Republican's talent for picking an unelectable candidate, however.

polls also show that more still blame the republicans...so there is that going for him.

Yeah and those who think this are delusional. Sure that Rs are somewhat responsible, but your guy is the POTUS now and he was suppose to fix things or at least make things better. Instead he made things much worse because he followed socialist policies which a fool knows will never work.

He has nothing going for him in the minds of people who are informed and not on the government payroll...unlike you.

Uninformed people elect presidents and senators all the time.

They elected Bush twice, for example.

perhaps more significant he's losing support in all of his base elments.

So, since everything is going so well for you guys. . .what's all the hoop-la?

Or are you just enjoying the sadistic side of "beating a dead horse?"

Mind you. . . . I don't think Obama is out. . .there may still be some surprises in store for all of us.

But, how ridiculous to think that this dreadful economic situation would be resolved in 3 years. . .even Obama warned that many issues couldn't be resolved in 4 years! And. . .I guess Obama is ALSO responsible for the global recession?:D

I don't think we can stand anymore surprises from the administration.

Obama said he had a plan. he didn't.
Obama said pass this and unemployment would stop at 8.5. it didn't.

His abysmal policies have contributed mightily.

It's very hard for the true believers to accept the fact that the guy they put all their hopes and dreams into is a failure. It's like buying a new car and right when the warranty expires the transmission falls out and the engine blows up, but you still have 2 years of payments. What are ya gonna do?

And NO poliicies (especially NOT McCain's policies) would have done much better! You continue to ignore that our economy could have been MUCH worse without the stimulus, the GM bailout, etc. ..

If there was ANY honest assessment coming from you or other Obama haters in this forum, (except for the general honesty and fairness that often transpires in Bob's posts), I would be much more likely to listen to what you have to say.

But throwing the baby away with the bath water. . .since DAY 1, is ridiculous.

I thought you were against the bailouts of GM, wall street, and the financial sector... Since that is corporate welfare. So one the one hand you're saying the country would be worse off without Obama giving away all that money to corporate welfare and on the other hand you're saying that the country is worse off for having given away all that money... Which is it, either you support corporate bailouts or you don't.

NO. I wasn't against the bailout, at least not to GM. I didn't like the bailouts to Wall Street or the financial sector, but I was all in favor of the bailouts to GM, because it preserved sooo many jobs.

There are plenty of corporate welfare to cut. . .tax breaks to the oil industry, subsidies to mega farming corporations, etc. . .

I do not believe in generalization in any areas. Sorry I can't give you a "black or white" answer. . .I am more of a "gray area" person. . .contrary to my reputation for being "far left."
