1. It was a moment packed with symbolism.
China’s frail former leader, Hu Jintao, who presided over one of China’s more open and prosperous periods, was shepherded out of the closing session of an important political meeting on Saturday, a rare disruption in a highly choreographed proceeding.
Mr. Hu, 79, was sitting in the front row next to his successor, Xi Jinping, when two attendants approached his table. One tried to lift him out of his chair, an effort Mr. Hu resisted. But then he stood up by himself, as the attendants continued standing behind him, while some of the senior officials nearby looked on in apparent concern.
After a brief exchange with the attendants, Mr. Hu, who appeared hesitant and possibly confused, said a few words to Mr. Xi, who gave the elder leader an expressionless nod, and Li Keqiang, who as China’s premier is the nation’s second-ranking official. Then Mr. Hu was led out of the hall.....

2. Everything changes and nothing lasts forever in this transient world. Whether you are the richest or the poorest or the most powerful or "the lowest of the low", there will come a day when you are forced to give up everything, including your life, to the Grim Reaper or the Super Being or Mother Nature or whatever you call Him.
It is very common for power-hungry kings, emperors or "the most powerful of the powerful" to hang on to their absolute power until their very last breath. The present incumbent might be the luckiest to break the record to be the longest-serving Chinese emperor in history. However, all good things must come to an end. Like all mortal beings, there will come a day when he still has to part with everything he has been gripping tightly to his chest all this while even if he could live over a hundred years or longer. Hence there is every likelihood that he could end up like the character in the following fictitious tale.
3. A frail man was seen by his countrymen and world media to be pushed daily onto the stage in a gurney during the country’s week-long communist party congress. On the first day, an attendant picked up a microphone beside him on the gurney and passed it to him to open the congress. In a weak, halting voice, he said: "Comrades... and and ... countrymen,... lend your ... ears... to my....my... temporary rep... representative." The same scene and procedure were repeated daily throughout the week-long congress.
On the last day, all officials left after the closing of the congress, leaving the gurney on the stage. After a short while, two nurses in white uniforms and surgical masks appeared. They covered the man's face and lifeless body with a white cloth before pushing the gurney off the stage
