That's right, by reading the news you can swing the country in the right direction. Everytime you click on a link you are voting for the content of the article based on its headline. Did you just click on the article titled: The Lesson? Central Govt Planning Doesn't Work - Michael Gerson, IBD or did you click on the one titled: Boehner Has to Choose: The Tea Party or America - Maria Cardona, CNN.
Those are two widely divergent viewpoints and make no bones about it the owners of IBD and CNN are acutely aware of how many people are clicking on which of their articles. They need advertising dollars and they make decisions about which kind of article to run based on how many people are reading those articles.
But wait, there's more. At the end of each article there is usually a comments section. You can post a comment about the article. If the author is crazy you can say so. Likewise if the author is right on you can say so too. You can even let it be known that you are more or less likely to read future articles by that author or by that media outlet. You can even argue for or against what is said in the article. Read a few comments and it becomes abundantly clear that in a country where a minority of people are liberal there is a concerted effort by liberals to dominate the comments sections. I believe that liberals are more passionate and organized when it comes to controlling the media but also they just might have people who are paid to post comments. Fight back or lose your country! Is it too much to ask that as you are becoming an informed citizen that you vote with your eyes by reading with intent?
Conservatives lost the last presidential election in part because the conservative base was demoralized and apathetic. Make no mistake that the socialists are not apathetic. The liberals are not apathetic. The special interest entitlement groups are not apathetic.
