A quick google search reveals that a prominent catholic promoter of homosexual issues claims that the cardinal was always celibate. The rest of the article said that it is a shame our modern culture sees sex everywhere and that two friends are assumed to be gay in our eyes.

Here is a good case oft repeated by gay people that rightly should convict preachers:

Too many preachers believe that mowing the lawn on Saturday or eating lobster is a-ok becuase the levitical laws are no longer applicable yet they have no trouble quoting levitical scriptures against homosexual behavior (that may or may not even be analogous to modern homosexual behavior)

Whatever people wish to do--within some simplistic reasoning (no ax murders, etc.) is OK--it is when they drag it into the open and ask other's approval/recognition/governmental subsidization or rulings-on that they run into difficulties.

Marriage is a religious ceremony and should remain so--children should have both their parents names on the birth certificates--to pay for their needs. Stop changing female's last names--it is not ownership and impedes others looking up old girlfriends.

I agree. When two gay people walk across the street holding hands it is their freedom to do so and it is the freedom of others to be pleased or displeased with what they see.

the state should by all means stay out of marriage unless it has a compelling interest to butt in. Making biological parents into a stable unit is compelling. But so is making adoptive caregivers. The state could decide that marriage must be regulated and it could also decide that adoptions need to be regulated. It could even regulate marriage without unneccessarly condoning it.

In France there have been massive protests because the logical end to same sex marriage laws is that the words mother and father need to be replaced with the words parent 1 and parent 2. Same sex marriage laws do weaken traditional marriage.
