We can expect all those laid off by this egomaniac to find good jobs in China, Japan, India - anyone with a healthy space program

The White House plans to terminate billions of dollars’ worth of ongoing and future National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) missions, effectively cutting the world-renowned scientific agency in half. President Donald Trump’s most recent budget proposal to Congress proposes major reductions that would cut NASA’s Science Mission Directorate (SMD) from $7.3 billion to $3.9 billion, The Washington Post reported Friday.

The SMD is responsible for sponsoring research in several fields: earth science, heliophysics, astrophysics, planetary science, and biological and physical sciences. The astrophysics budget would drop from $1.5 billion to $487 million. The planetary science budget would plunge from $2.7 billion to $1.9 billion.

No telescope other than the extant Hubble and Webb telescopes will be funded, including the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, a groundbreaking instrument in the works that would study distant galaxies and faraway planets.

Not all hope is lost, however, as the budget draft is only the first step in the process in which Trump sends Congress a 2026 fiscal year budget request. Congress, which has the “power of the purse,” could still rescue NASA. The Daily Beast has reached out to the Trump administration for comment.

in the diseased mind of the fraud in the white house, NASA must be destroyed because it supports the science of climate change..

as everybody knows, frump is a complete lickspittle of all who bribe him, which includes the oil business

this is what will probably be cancelled

"...The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope (shortened as the Roman Space Telescope, Roman, or RST) is a NASA infrared space telescope in development and scheduled to launch to a Sun–Earth L2 orbit by May 2027. It is named after former NASA Chief of Astronomy Nancy Grace Roman.

The Roman Space Telescope is based on an existing 2.4 m (7.9 ft) wide field of view primary mirror and will carry two scientific instruments. The Wide-Field Instrument (WFI) is a 300.8-megapixel multi-band visible and near-infrared camera, providing a sharpness of images comparable to that achieved by the Hubble Space Telescope over a 0.28 square degree field of view, 100 times larger than imaging cameras on the Hubble. The Coronagraphic Instrument (CGI) is a high-contrast, small field of view camera and spectrometer covering visible and near-infrared wavelengths using novel starlight-suppression technology.

Stated objectives include a search for extra-solar planets using gravitational microlensing, along with probing the chronology of the universe and growth of cosmic structure, with the end goal of measuring the effects of dark energy, the consistency of general relativity, and the curvature of spacetime.

Roman was recommended in 2010 by the United States National Research Council Decadal Survey committee as the top priority for the next decade of astronomy. On 17 February 2016, it was approved for development and launch. On 20 May 2020, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine announced that the mission would be named the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope in recognition of former NASA Chief of Astronomy Nancy Grace Roman's role in the field of astronomy. As of May 2024, Roman is scheduled to be launched on a Falcon Heavy rocket under a contract specifying readiness by October 2026 supporting a NASA launch commitment of May 2027.

The telescope is almost ready to go

On 29 September 2021, NASA announced that Roman had passed its Critical Design Review (CDR), and that with predicted impacts from COVID-19 disruptions, and with flight hardware fabrication completed by 2024 followed by mission integration, the launch date would be no later than May 2027.

On 19 July 2022, NASA announced that Roman would be launched on a Falcon Heavy launch vehicle, with a contract specifying readiness by October 2026 and a launch cost of approximately $255 million.

In October 2024, the telescope passed a major ‘spin test’.

In September 2024, the satellite bus which will carry the telescope, was substantially completed. The following December, the instruments and mirror assembly were successfully integrated onto a section called the "instrument carrier".

I don;t need some stinkin' telescope..you can't play golf in space..or accept cash from bribers...

lol sure Americans will go to China and India that's why so many illegals are going to these nations right . lol your so full of it

I very much doubt that indians and chinese working for NASA are illegal ..do they not have stringent security checks for all their workers ?

you seemed to be very pleased that the us is throwing away being a player in space..apart from weapons of course

maybe you missed this nugget..

When India’s ambassador to the US signed up his country to the Artemis Accords last month, it signaled the world’s most populous nation—with a growing prowess in spaceflight—could be turning toward the United States as a partner in space exploration.

India became the 27th country to sign the Artemis Accords, a non-binding set of principles among like-minded nations guiding a vision for peaceful and transparent exploration of space. The accords cover the international registration of human-made space objects, the open release of scientific data, and an agreement for nations not to claim territory on the Moon or other planetary bodies, among other tenets.

The Artemis Accords started under the Trump administration, an effort spearheaded by former NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine and Mike Gold, an attorney and longtime space industry official. Bill Nelson, the NASA chief under President Biden, has embraced the accords. He said the principles are “just common sense.”

“You come to somebody’s aid in distress … You try to have commonality of parts, you respect each other’s territory,” Nelson said.

Details about future cooperation between the US and India remain scarce. Nelson plans to travel to India later this year for meetings and discussions with Indian space officials. One objective of Nelson’s trip will be to hammer out broad objectives for a “strategic framework” for human spaceflight cooperation.

Despite the name of the Artemis Accords, there’s no guarantee that India will play a significant role in NASA’s Artemis program to return astronauts to the Moon and eventually send humans to Mars.

“There’s no implication of a signatory to the Artemis accords also being part of the Artemis program,” Nelson told Ars.

your a ***** and a lying ass. I worked on the shuttle program and the eelv among others and they do a strict background check including with the feds,

I find it very difficult to believe that someone who has never written a coherent sentence on this forum is capable
of even cleaning the toilets at NASA.

What did you do at the organisation.

Was ADA the language of choice ?

I applied for a job as an ADA programmer with the European Space Agency while in London, but could not get a security clearance
because I was not an EU citizen.

So tell me..

What exactly did you do at NASA ?

However I wen tback to trade school paid for it my self no freebies like the kids today.
I developed skills and got a job working for a small c chemical company that specializes in making small batch chemicals experimental drugs any thing that can be done in a 50 gallon to 2500 gallons. I got the job with the space program because I had extensive experience handling toxic chemicals . acids and elements .I The place was so toxic that if we had fire they wanted up to fight it ,
its called bettering ones self I needed skills to earn a living not grammar . funny coming from some one who pretends to be a Russian dictator who killed millions of his own people . yep we make choices in life .

I'll say it again. I hope Trump completely destroys the country, leaving it in smouldering ruins. It's the only way the Magas will realise the mistake they made.
Don't leave out assassination out yet.

WHAT MISTAKE YOUR TALKING SHAT AND IT WAS DDEMOCRATS POLICY AND ACTION THAT GOT HIM ELECTED SIMPLY PUT THAT A FACE.

The thread is actually about how frump is trying to destroy NASA.

Instead we get a frump-like self-obsession and unfathomable rants...

If you are so proud of your time with "small batch chemicals experimental drugs any thing that can be done in a 50 gallon to 2500 gallons"
why are you supporting this vandal's latest wheeze.

How is 2500 gallons a small batch ?

now our esteemed colleague cannot even fill out a reply to a post on a forum properly..

even the half-educated maga cult clone can do that...just...

would you trust this man with 2500 gallons of toxic chemicals at the bottom of a rocket ?

BOOM !!!

you have to have room for some chemical batches to expand and allow for preasue.often you also

YOUR A ***** AS i JUST SAID IT WOULD NOT BE 2500 GALLONS MIXED , iT WAS AS SIMPLE AS MAKING A CAKE .i SPENT THE FIRST 2 MONTHS learning what was what such as the right knobs to turn to inject andropause ammonia from a 500 gallon tank ( one reason why the fire dept let us fight the fire ad see were still alive lol learn to operate the tanks and eqp etc classes on the handling of hazardous chems for example learn to use a spectrum analyzer. also how to quench certain chems . lot to larn . the placed had a habit of loosing staff people would quit after 1 or 2 nasty experiences. .

o yes before I forgot to tell you this toxic chems do not alway stay toxic when mixed with the right things, but you might be dealing with a substance that has to be under a vacuum in a oxygen free environment or a nitrogen rich environment to keep it from going boom or catching fire.
also I guess I have to post a picture of some brake shoes off th shuttle also a little not to you.
