2. To sail through the Bering Strait would be analogous to a stroll in the garden by the Chinese Navy. Under its Trans-Pacific Euro-Atlantic strategy (an ironclad and enduring commitment to regions that span from the Pacific Ocean across the Atlantic Ocean to the European continent), the real breakthrough for the Chinese Navy would be its first historic eastward voyage across the Pacific and the Atlantic through the Panama Canal to friendly European nations on mutual port calls.
The US Navy’s 7th Fleet said US forces would “continue to fly, sail, and operate wherever international law allows” and that “nothing” China “says otherwise will deter us.”
Similarly, it won't take long for the Chinese Navy to assert the same rights: "Chinese forces would continue to fly, sail, and operate wherever international law allows and that nothing America says otherwise will deter us.”
