Months ago, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) derided the TEA party rallies as "astroturf", wanting us to believe they had been organized and staged by sinister, hidden forces and were not just a sincere demonstration of how the rally attendants thought of the extreme-left government policies she was trying to impose. She announced that the TEA party people had been "bused in" by unnamed Special Interest Groups, corporations, and other scapegoats she was never able to identify.
Now, finally, Pelosi's accusations have an actual target.
More than 10,000 protesters were brought in on buses to stage possibly the first protest in the nation's history where the protestors demanded that taxes be RAISED. They came from various unions whose salaries are paid entirely with other people's tax money. I think I detect a connection here.
Of course, these people do pay taxes on the tax money they get.
Finally, we can point to a genuinely "Astroturf" demonstration - one that is designed to look like a grassroots movement, but is actually staged by union bosses, with the protesters brought in on buses to protest in areas where they don't actually live.
It's been a long time in coming, but finally it's here.
And once again, we see that when Democrats accuse conservatives of doing something false and duplicitous, we find it's actually the Democrats doing it themselves.

State workers push tax hike
15,000 RALLY | Union leaders slam lawmakers
BY DAVE McKINNEY AND STEVE CONTORNO Sun-Times Springfield Bureau
April 22, 2010
SPRINGFIELD -- In one of the largest Statehouse rallies ever, thousands of unionized government workers and social-service advocates rallied for an income-tax hike that could avert billions of dollars in crippling budget cuts.
Three hundred busloads of people, mostly from AFSCME Council 31, SEIU, the Illinois Education Association and the Illinois Federation of Teachers, converged outside the Capitol while lawmakers were in session.
On several occasions during the late-morning rally, protesters turned away from the stage across from the Capitol to face the ornate seat of state government and chant, "Raise our taxes!" and "Save Our state!"
Organizers of the rally and the Illinois secretary of state's office estimated the crowd size at 15,000, requiring that streets around the Capitol be shut down during a demonstration that had union leaders lobbing fiery insults at lawmakers unwilling to support Gov. Quinn's push to raise the individual income tax from 3 percent to 4 percent.
