The best planned assassination was that of James Earl Ray, who assassinated Dr. King. He had a fake Canadian passport and managed to leave the country. He almost managed to escape to apartheid South Africa, but they finally caught him in Portugal.

No one is even trying to destroy religion in the US, and with very few exceptions, no county has been able to destroy religions.

The best theory I have read about JFK's assassination was Colin McLaren's book The Smoking Gun. JFK was shot by Oswald, but he was also shot accidentally by a Secret Service Agent, and that was followed by a cover up. No other book explains all the details better.
