In a decision sure to re-ignite a fierce energy debate, the Obama administration was announcing on Wednesday its rejection of the controversial Keystone XL pipeline because the 60-day deadline imposed by Republicans did not allow adequate time to review an alternate route through critical wetlands in the Midwest.

Surprise, surprise.
Obama is not necessarily against this bill. He's just against having to make a decision before the election. If he approves it, he alienates the green vote, but if he doesn't, he alienates labor.

Republicans, of course, want him to make a decision now, which is the right thing to do, but is not the politically advantageous thing to do.

Meanwhile, he has been forced into making a decision of sorts, which will give the opposition ammunition to use in the November election. This was, of course, the Republican goal all along.

Welcome to party politics.

Thought he was supposed to be pragmatic and focused like a laser on jobs...
Yup, nothing more than a party hack.

I'm afraid this decision will leave a mark.

and none of it good which makes me wonder why he didn't fall over himself to move this forward.
The Republicans boxed him in. He didn't want to make a decision until after the election, because a negative would have alienated labor, while a positive would have alienated the greens, both Obama supporters by and large. That's why they put a 60 day limit on it.

It was dirty politics, well played by the Republicans. Obama should have stood up and made a decision, right or wrong, and at least showed some of that quality that seems to be lacking ... let's see.. what's it called again?

Oh, yes, leadership.

Is it not true that America needs a greater supply of oil for it's economy to prosper? Is it not true that America needs more good paying jobs?

I think we can all answer yes to those questions...excepting only the hardcore leftist.

Yet the Skinny Socialist says no to Keystone. Why? Because he FEELS rushed to make a decision (even though this decision has been forthcoming for months) and he wants to wait till after the election to make the decision (a clear sop to the wacko enviros, and THC bought it...hahahahahha).

This is nothing more then socialist politics by a socialist anti-American president.

he's discovering the hard way that pandering to all his voting blocks is impossible. they are incapable of keeping track of so much. oh what a tangled web we weave...
