Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates says he does not think he pays enough tax, and says wealthy Americans should contribute more in order to solve the deficit problem.
Speaking on BBC World, Mr Gates said taxing the rich, was "just justice".

The Rich are speaking out they do want to pay taxes. But Washington isnt listening,, They rather tax orindinary people who cant spend. Is the U.S like the U.K in a way? In the U.K they dont tax the rich much.Like for Example the Royal family doest pay that much in taxes.

Yet again we see the poor defending the rights of the rich

Look how angry the poor get when, on rare occasions the rich want to look after the poor

If that isn't stupid I don't know what is

In the uk anyone earning over 150k pays 50% tax which is good

The problem is that the rich don't pay themselves much in terms of wages against which this tax is levied.

Rather they take dividends etc. They also go to great lengths to evade tax

The point about the royal family is ludicrous.

The royal family is not a representative example and in any case the whole lot of them should be deported to tHe US where they can mix with other interbred religious right wing idiots

there is nothing preventing Bill Gates or anyone else, even you from giving Uncle Sam whatever they want.

but you make a good point in that the rate is immaterial as its easy to avoid paying with perfectly legal deductions etc.

You see the point here? When Republicans promise tax cuts.. They cut them on the Rich,,When Democrats promise to tax the rich the turn right around aim it at the working class like Bill Clinton did.

everyone got tax cuts under Bush. many of Obama's tax increases hit the lower classes inordinately. hope the GOP finds time to point this olut.

The way the rich avoid tax is through a combination of avoidance on technicalities via loopholes the retardlicans refuse to close up and through evasion eg complex webs of companies

These are mostly unavailable to the poor

The "poor" are among the 47% of Americans who pay no federal income tax, in fact, the "poor" have a negative tax liability - meaning they actually earn money through the income tax system.

Once again even the most perfunctory observations are enough to obliterate your arguments.

indeed.

and lets not pretend that loopholes are the exclusive domain of the right.

The poor pay all sorts of tax

Any goods that are sold with tax as part of their price tax the purchaser and in a totally regressive way

And if 47% of Americans pay no tax you should be ashamed as it is because they are one or more of the following

Out of work
Paid very low wages
Crooked
