Weed is different than laws concerning marriage, gun rights, etc.  Because marijuana is still classified as a schedule I drug federally, a person could face federal charges even in Colorado where the state has passed different laws.  It's easy to see that states are 'supposed' to have and support their own separate laws, it just depends on which laws the federal government wants enforced.  This is wrong.
