"The speaker's charges about the CIA's alleged deception and her shifting accounts of what she knew and when she knew it are likely to add to calls for some kind of independent body to investigate this supercharged issue, though Obama and many members of Congress would like to avoid a wholesale unearthing of the past at a time when their plates are full with pressing concerns.

Closing the books on the George W. Bush years has proven harder than anyone imagined -- certainly harder than Obama hoped. The intensifying argument over what the CIA told Pelosi and when comes on top of the debate over whether any Bush administration officials should face legal action for their roles in authorizing or implementing the interrogation policies and whether a national commission is needed to get to the truth."

The Obama Admin should initiate an On-Going, Open-Ended Investigation!

:)

The Obama Admin could create a database that'd be accessable to input from any-and-ALL investigative-journalists!! Each journalist would have his own folder, where his data would be stored, and....eventually....maybe the begining of 2012.....a special-prosecutor's team would evaluate all data!!!

THEN, after evaluating all data, INDICTMENTS could be compiled! After the 2012 Election (or, before; dependent-upon public-interest :D ), all Indictments will be made public! (....with a Trial-date, to-be-announced.)

THIS way, the next-few-years will be devoted to The People's Business(cleaning-up after BUSHCO) uninterrupted, the Bush Admin folks would have plenty-of-time to evaluate their position, and all investigative-journalists would have plenty-of-time to find the most-damning evidence, available, to finally prosecute Torturegate!!!

Also, the reporter who compiles the most, and most-accurate info will be given an award of $3 MILLION (...and, an automatic book-contract.)!!!!! Not bad for part-time work!! ;)

So in your world, journalists should be the primary source for legal information? That's funny. I'm glad you are not in charge.

So how many democrats should be investigated? All of them perhaps, since they all agreed with it?

Shaman, out of everyone here, you of all people have fewer "facts" than anyone on this forum. I've caught you with so much bogus made up crap, that for you to talk about "just the facts" is laughable! lol

You are without question, the only guy that moderators have to remind ten times a thread, what the topic of the thread is because you wander around with completely unrelated crap.

Not even close to being true. You are once again living up to your reputation as being the least reliable source of information on this forum. The reporters may have broke the story. That's fine. But their "stories" were not evidence. The evidence against Nixon came from the federal investigation. Nor did mere reporters run Nixon out of office. It was the federal investigators that were pushing the case that made Nixon leave. Moreover, it's not even clear Nixon would have lost the case had it gone to court. If you knew ANYTHING about this topic, you'd know that.

The idea that we are going to use reporters to do legal investigations is something only an idiot would support. Reporters fabricate stuff constantly because they never seem to get in much trouble.

Let me put it another way... let's have Fox News provide the "evidence" for an impeachment of Obama. How about that? "GASP! They'll make up stuff!" Right, and all the rest of the Media does exactly the same thing. If you ever did anything wrong, would you want the people investigating you be reporters? They'd screw you over so bad. Especially you with how often you are wrong about nearly everything you right about.

July 27, 1974: House Judiciary Committee passes the first of three articles of impeachment, charging obstruction of justice.

August 8, 1974: Richard Nixon becomes the first U.S. president to resign.
