(CNSNews.com) - 1,154,000 fewer Americans are working today than six years ago, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

In January 2008, 146,378,000 Americans 16 and over were employed, and now in January 2014, 145,224,000 are employed, a difference of 1,154,000.

91,455,000 Americans 16 or older did not participate in the nation’s labor force in January, meaning they neither held a job nor actively sought one. That's a 353,000 decline from December, but 172,000 more than November.

The national labor force participation rate -- the share of Americans who had a job or were actively looking for one -- ticked up to 63 percent in January, from 62.8 percent in December.

In January, according to BLS, the nation’s civilian non-institutional population, consisting of all people 16 or older who were not in the military, a nursing home or other institution, reached 246,915,000 (number not seasonally adjusted). Of those, 155,460,000 participated in the labor force by either holding a job or actively seeking one.

The 155,460,000 who participated in the labor force equaled only 63.0 percent of the 246,915,000 civilian non-institutional population.

Another 91,455,000 Americans did not participate in the labor force. These Americans did not have a job and were not actively trying to find one.

Of the 155,460,000 who did participate in the labor force, 145,224,000 had a job, and 10,236,000 did not have a job were actively seeking one—making them the nation’s unemployed.

The 10,236,000 job seekers were 6.6 percent of the 155,460,000 actively participating in the labor force during the month. Thus, the unemployment rate was 6.6 percent.

Things Republicans have done about it...Nothing

Things Republicans have done about it ... passed 14 jobs bills in the House; sent them to Senate ... none of them have ever been brought to the floor.

Dems have realized that poverty, unemployment, and misery is what keeps them in power ... they don't want it to end.

thought the number of jobs related bills sitting in harrys inbix was up over 20-25...

repealing Obama care 40 times does not count as passing jobs bills...Also banning Sharia law, and Defuding Acon who does not exist as well don't count. Also the House can pass all the bills it wans....if it does not work to make bills that can pass the Senate and White House...its just wasting its time. The House passes bills to run for Elections on, so they can boast about bill...but know hey don' work and can' pass.

The House could not even pass half of its own bills if it actuly thought they would be made into law. Its all for show.

Post some Numbers on Jobs from 2000 to 2008 with Republicans in the white house...come on do it...lets see :)

just a hint

Ok ... you asked .. you got it. Now, let's talk about what you are actually looking at. The first chart clearly shows that there has been little growth in the job availability during the Obama years.(In fact, some could say that there are actually LESS jobs available in 2012 than in 2008, but I won't )

The second chart demonstrates how many people have dropped out of the employment market completely (and are NOT counted in the Unemployed column of the first table).

When you correlate the tables together, you'll see that in the year 2000, 5.9 million people did not participate in the workforce. In 2008, 8.9 million, and in 2012, 13.6 million. That means that the inactive workers increased by about 35% in the last 5 years. An additional 4.7 million people just gave up.

Despite all the Democratic nonsense about the recovery, 13 million people are so disillusioned with their opportunities to work, that they simply quit trying. While this is devastating enough, when you consider the resultant load on the working people to support these non-contributors, anyone can see what a massive catastrophe this really is.

While I would love for you to actually do the work to dispute the statistics, I'm confident that you won't spend the minimal effort necessary to get educated. But, if you decide to, I'll even give you a hint where to look ... check out the Bureau of Labor Statistics at http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS14000000 and http://www.nidataplus.com/lfeus1.htm

I wait with bated breath your ever so coherent dismissal of reality.

Its cute, how Bush has that line of PRIVATE sector Jobs..Lower at the end then at the start......
And Obama , has the big dip at the front ( basicly the falling from the econ collapse before he took office, taking a few months to get a policy in place and then the Stimulas package hits and boom Look at that, Private numbers Higher then when took office!

And whats that realy big Red Line...oooo Thats where Bush Increased the amount of Goverment workers.....That socialist, Where as there are less Public workers under Obama, the good capitalist.

Also odd how that big Tax cut seemd to not actuly creat jobs under Bush, though costs A huge amount...while the far lower costs stimulus ( of that 40 where tax cuts, but targete for real growth not just to the rich) and we got Fucking jobs.

You're comparing apples and kumquats. I'm surprised you didn't throw up Woodrow Wilson's employment numbers, too. Neither Bush nor Wilson have anything to do with Obama's failure to manage the economy and create jobs.

Simple question .... are more people working today than were working when Obama took office, if you adjust for 1) part-time jobs, and 2) the increase in new workers graduating every year?

And, the simple answer is ... no.

Simple graph, I know its hard for you. More people in the private sector then when when Obama started...less from start to finnish under Bush...Only area that gained under Bush large amounts of Goverment jobs...A area that we have less of under Obama.. But that must make your small head explode...the Marxist commie pinkio with less goverment and the Republican with more . And all the economy has done since obama took office is get slowly better...Bush took one that doing very well and then watched it fall to rock bottom...But that does not seem to bother you.

Figures don't lie, but liars figure ... you conveniently forgot to factor in 1) the dissolution of full time positions into part time jobs, and 2) the number of new entries into the job market exceeded the number of jobs (even with part time jobs considered) created during the Obama regime.

Is that intentional, in order to support for fallacious argument, or do you actually live in a fantasy world?
