Who are Mitt Romney's 47 percent? A breakdown

Openmind ( a.k.a. Notorious BW),

1. If you don't want to answer a simple question, just say so. You don't have to resort to all this "it's moot and I went to college" nonsense. Just say that you brought up a topic in the thread but you don't want to field queries, that's weak but at least it's honest.

2. Internet Credentials mean nothing to me. I am never going to give you, or anyone else, a detailed breakdown of my educational and professional history. You're just going to have to judge my opinions based upon what I write. When I see a bad opinion online I don't all of a sudden believe it's good because the poster went all TMI about their completely unverifiable educational background.

3. When I gave good reasons to gain citizenship earlier than you did, I didn't mention patriotism or wrapping yourself in the flag. In fact, I thought I gave some rather practical reasons. At no time did I suggest that you should go all America over everyone's ass.

4. I'm rubber and you're glue...:p

We agree on one major thing, we do not have anything in common.

I don't care about credentials of any kind, I care about how people act and whether they have a reasonable basis for their opinions, or if their "opinions" are just propaganda repeated over and over by the Right wing media. The reason I brought up my educational background is because it was relevant to answering your question: All my higher education took place in the USA and led to my career in the USA. . .which reinforced my bond with this country. That's it.

There was NO practical reason for my applying for naturalization earlier than I did. In fact, there were a lot of good reason why it didn't make sense. You see, my husband has made his career as an international manager. . . and it happens that, being married to a Belgian citizen gave him free access to working in all the European countries without having to jump through the labor hoops in those countries. Today, that law has changed and both my husband and I are retired.

I have read up on this one. Obviously what we have read or how we interpret it, differs.

So, then I am to understand that your support for Obama stems on the fact that he has no communist ties and it is irrelevant that he has been endorsed by Communist Party USA since '04.

Would that be a correct understanding of your comment?

Not quite. I don't care whether or not Obama has been endorsed by the minute Communist party in the US. In fact, if the Communist party wanted to HURT a candidate. . .we all know that the best way to do that would be to endorse him/her. . .whether or not he/she has anything to contribute to the Communist party!

My support from Obama comes from my belief that he is NOT an extremist in anyway, that his policies and his philosophy of life is actually quite pragmatic, and that rather than impose himself and his opinions, he is in touch with the changing opinions of the majority of the Americains and even the world.

I believe he is a spiritual man, who believes in God, but not in the "narrow vision" of God that too many "Christians" want to impose on the rest of us and that is based mostly on manmade dogmas.

I believe is untraditional upbringing, and his high intelligence are what we need to take us FORWARD into a world that no longer fit within North America, and even less withing the US.

I believe he is a good family man, he has a strong, intelligence partner in his wife and he has been dealt a lot of crap by racists and sore losers in the GOP party.

I believe that what he has been able to accomplish over the last 4 years is amazing in view of the hateful resistance and the vows from the Right to "make him fail" even if it damages the country. I trust him more than I do just about any other political jockey in the world. Certainly more than any of the Republican presidential candidates and immensely more than Romney whom, if he has an opinion, if he has a soul, is willing to switch ANYTHING he says to meet the most extreme of what he would like to be "his base."

Now. . .I am done with all this for now. I'll probably be back around mid October and again around November 4th . . .until about November 7.

Well, you're wrong.
First, there is nothing in the Constitution that says one cannot be a communist, or a socialist.

This is technically true, there is no one thing in the Constitution specifically prohibiting Communism or Socialism. There are limited and clearly enumerated powers which would make a Socialist economic system practically impossible to establish here. As for the political system, if Communism has as one of it's goals the overturning of the US Government then yes, people can be removed from office for being Communist as long as they have been convicted of treason.

Second, Obama is about as Communist as the Pope!

I'd have to say that when it comes to bringing on the Dictatorship of the Proletariat the GOP is doing a far better job than the Dems are. If anyone here really believes the Dems are Communists then you should probably tip them off that they have to get rid of the middle class first, not try to prop it up.

As for Obama, he may not be a true believer but his Marxist campaign slogans certainly aren't helping his image any.

Maintaining high levels of unemployment, highest corporate taxes in the world, anti-business policies that tax and regulate companies right out of the US, record number of people on food stamps and other government assistance, record debts and deficits, a welfare state that's bankrupting the country, monetizing our debt and inflating our currency to record levels... If the goal is to destroy the middle class, the Dems are doing a fantastic job.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms...

Is it not appropriate for larger arms to fall under the militias?
You didn't answer my question... If the bill of rights was not meant to protect "We The People" from the Federal Government they had just created, then who was it designed to protect and from whom?

nope. what are militias ? a collection of individuals banding together against a common enemy ?
but thats not really the point, weapons are not the exclusive domain of the militias. ergo "the right of the people..."

I am asking if you think the "large" arms should be regulated among a militia. I am very clear what the 2nd Amendment is for.

UNBELIEVABLE!

I'm a little unclear on what you mean by "large" arms.
Though there is no civilian definition within the U.S., any firearm utilizing a projectile greater than 1/2 inch (.50 caliber or 12.7 mm) in diameter is legally defined as a "destructive device," while anything .50 caliber or less is normally considered "small arms." The so-called "1/2 inch rule" does not apply to shotguns, sporting cartridge big bore rifles (such as rifles chambered in .600 Nitro Express) or muzzleloading black powder firearms, many of which are larger than .50 caliber.

Large arms would gernades, RPG's and up .... basically anything above would you may find at your average gun show today.
