In spite of brutally oppressing, imprisoning, and murdering enemies of the state and helpless poor citizens with no voice in government, China does seem to be profiting well from its bribery of other world leaders to overlook its human rights abuses the way the US Democrat South of 200 years ago turned deaf ears to the cries of black slaves.
