That is kind of stock tip I always look for, from someone who is so savvy of the market that they do not know that the stock markets have stopped using "points" years ago.
Hay JayMick, what is "half a point", anyway? A penny? A dollar? In case you do not know, all stocks vary everyday, sometimes up, sometimes down.

in a marketing class in high school we pissed our teacher off when my group for our stock game..invested in Philip Morris, Playboy, Anhiser Bush, and I forget what other one...she was like beer cigs and porn? thats what you picked? of course we won lol

The funny thing is I did the same thing for my econ class cigs, beer, smut, and condoms. I placed second though.

Depending on how long a period your stock game covered, that could have been a horrible strategy in my opinion.
