I don't know who wrote this but thanks for the e-mail, For the record..Sam Walton was a staunch Republican: 1. Americans spend $36,000,000 at Wal-Mart every hour of every day. 2. This works out to $20,928 profit every minute! 3. Wal-Mart will sell more from January 1 to St. Patrick's Day (March 17th) than Target sells all year. 4. Wal-Mart is bigger than Home Depot + Kroger + Target +Sears + Costco + K-Mart combined. 5. Wal-Mart employs 1.6 million people, is the world's largest private employer, and most speak English. 6. Wal-Mart is the largest company in the history of the world. 7. Wal-Mart now sells more food than Kroger and Safeway combined, and keep in mind they did this in only fifteen years. 8.During this same period, 31 big supermarket chains sought bankruptcy. 9. Wal-Mart now sells more food than any other store in the world. 10. Wal-Mart has approx 3,900 stores in the USA of which 1,906 are Super Centers; this is 1,000 more than it had five years ago. 11. This year 7.2 billion different purchasing experiences will occur at Wal-Mart stores. (Earth's population is approximately 6.5 Billion.) 12. 90% of all Americans live within fifteen miles of a Wal-Mart. You may think that I am complaining, but I am really laying the ground work for suggesting that MAYBE we should hire the guys who run Wal-Mart to fix the economy. This should be read and understood by all Americans and Democrats, Republicans, EVERYONE!! To President Obama, many past presidents, and all 535 voting members of the Legislature, then and now: It is now official that the majority of you are corrupt and ineffective: a.. The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775. You have had 237 years to get it right and it is broke. b. Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 77 years to get it right and it is broke. c. Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 74 years to get it right and it is broke. d.. War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 48 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor" and they only want more. e. Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 47 years to get it right and they are broke. f. Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 42 years to get it right and it is broke. g. The Department of Energy was created in1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 35 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure. You have FAILED in every "government service" you have shoved down our throats while overspending our tax dollars. AND YOU WANT AMERICANS TO BELIEVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED WITH A GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM? (largely managed by the IRS??~)

Wanna know why grocery stores food is more expensive than Wal-Mart? The Unions made em expensive. Kroger,Giant,Publix,Food Lion,Soperfresh and Safeway are higher then Wal-Mart cause theyre paying for union members. The D.C Council voted to raise the Minimum wage to $12 an hour. And now Wal-Mart all D.C areas are threating to close down and move their stores to northern virgina.

Of course, big bloated government is ALWAYS a failure. Because it leads to inefficiencies and corruption by allowing certain people the power to do as they wish. Because it allows a small class of "intellectuals" and elitists to control most things they are incapable of controlling...but they do make sure to enrich themselves and their friends, at the expense of the rest of us.

Ironically those same lovers of big government condemn Walmart, while refusing to recognize the failures of big government.

unions dont help but mainly its volume buying power. nobody pays less than walmart for product. they can afford to tell any vendor no and make it stick.

I see now that many fast-food employees, McDonald's etc., are demanding a $15.00 per-hour minimum wage. Spokespersons for this insanity are telling us that the present wage won't support a family. Duh, ya think? If they get what they want, how will they react to buying their first $10.95 cheeseburger?? How will they react to losing their jobs when customers begin buying much bigger burgers at Sheetz's for $4.39, and McDonald's goes out of business?

Neil Cavuto interviewed a couple of the people who walked out. They said they were "owed" the $15 hr. One was a girl with kids, who said she couldn't live on what McDonalds paid her.

Get ready for the $6 Big Mac

Get ready for the $6 Big Mac

No one will pay it. Then they will have to close the shops and fire the employees.

Didn't we see this happen to "Hostess" home of the twinkie? The employees walked off the job and they went bankrupt.

Liberals can't see beyond the end of their outstretched hand.

yea , double the wages to a living wage and hte Big Mac cost...a fucking 65 cents more...But that is only if you don't cut the pay of the top of the company who don't do shit. You guys would have bitched about the cost if we let the slaves be free as well...because you don't give a shit about anyone but yourself.

Every time the min is raised jobs are lost because the margins cant be ignored.

Every time.

Does this help or hurt workers ?

You obviously know nothing about how the economy works. In a service industry, the biggest cost is labor. 75% of McDonald's employees don't work there for more than a year. What your advocating is higher costs which translates into lower return for the stock holders. Stock holders pull out, and there goes a lot of our pension funds. The stores can't afford to operate in the States, move more of their operations overseas, and lowering the GDP.

Of course you would cut off your own nose in the process.

What?

You mean McDonald's employees can't make 60k a year while still in high school .....

Evil Capitalist! :cautious:

Do you honestly think we care what a big mac cost? dog is 100% correct on this one... Every time the min is raised jobs are lost because the margins cant be ignored. That's just a fact!

Neil Cavuto interviewed a couple of the people who walked out. They said they were "owed" the $15 hr. One was a girl with kids, who said she couldn't live on what McDonalds paid her.

As an analogy: I used to work with kids who were mentally ill and sometimes when they were violent we would have to restrain them. invariably they would yell to be let go and the reason they would give as to why they should be let go was that they did not want to be restrained. As if their violence were in no way connected to the restraint and their desire alone were enough of a reason.

So here we have people in entry level jobs who want to earn wages more appropriate to those who have been working their way up the ladder for a few years and their reason they give as to why they should be paid more is that they need more money. The solution to needing more money is to become an employee who delivers more service so that you deserve more money. If you are in an entry level job and you need to be paid like a manager then you need to do what you need to do to become a manager. Your needing more money is irrelevant to the company paying what is right for an entry level job.

When you own the company you can negotiate with entry level workers to determine what is the best pay.

and hte Big Mac cost...a fucking 65 cents more...
On what basis did you determine that raising the pay of entry level workers to $15/hour would result in a 65 cent increase in a big mac? You don't really have any idea what you are talking about do you?

But that is only if you don't cut the pay of the top of the company who don't do shit.
McDonald's exist to make money I am sure that if they don't do shit they would not be paid a lot of money.

You guys would have bitched about the cost if we let the slaves be free as well..
You have a wild imagination.

.
because you don't give a shit about anyone but yourself.
That's just slanderous and false. An ad hominem argument as well.
