Trump's speech to the United Nations

“The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea,” the president told world leaders in his first address to the annual U.N. General Assembly.

Has he thought about the unintended consequences of killing off killing 25 million people in North Korea?

He went on to say:

“I will always put America first, just like you, as the leaders of your countries, will always and should always put your countries first,” the president said. “In America, we do not seek to impose our way of life on anyone, but rather to let it shine as an example for everyone to watch.”

and yet:

“The Venezuelan people are starving, and their country is collapsing. Their democratic institutions are being destroyed. This situation is completely unacceptable, and we cannot stand by and watch,” the president said. “We are prepared to take further action if the government of Venezuela persists on its path to impose authoritarian rule on the Venezuelan people.”

America first? Does that include South America?

Oh, and let's by all means scrap the Iran nuclear deal and create yet another nuclear power. What a great idea that is.

Just a thought but does threatening to destroy a state in front of a law making assembly justify its endeavours to defend itself to the utmost of its capability? Has Trump just legitimised the further development of North Korean nuclear arms?

So sad! Such a major embarrassment throughout the world! He is good at only one thing: making ennemies, even among century long friends!

Has he thought about it, yes
Include South America, no, that's a continent.

1 I doubt it.
2 Then why "take further action" there if we're putting America first? What have we to lose/gain in Venezuela?
1 of course. Lil kim says he will destroy but cannot, we say it and we can. And everyone there understood that. Time to quit tolerating him.
2 trading partner if they become a functioning country again.

No doubt we could actually totally destroy North Korea.
What do you think the result would be if we did?

The people might be able to forage some food and not starve to death.
But if we choose to smack him down it will be focused. Perhaps this is the impetus PRC needs to handle their problem child.

If the PRC actually did decide to handle their little problem child, then there just might be a positive outcome of Trump and his overblown rhetoric.

If we did decide to take matters into our own hands and destroy NK, we'd also destroy a large part of South Korea, and no doubt a part of China as well, not to mention 25 million people who are the victims of Kim and his regime.

Depends on what you see as destroy. NK has a lot of mountainous terrain so nukes are largely useless. It will be targeted and probably not even us (though we will likely :"light the targets).

yeah me too, however, I worry about the people that wrote the speech... who sent him out in front of a world audience with such a parochial narrow minded speech? I mean, to stand up in front of the UN general assembly and think that he is just addressing his usual hidebound provincial US supporters is just bizzar? Anyway he's your president.
