"MANAMA, Bahrain – Troops and tanks locked down the capital of this tiny Gulf kingdom after riot police swinging clubs and firing tear gas smashed into demonstrators, many of them sleeping, in a pre-dawn assault Thursday that uprooted their protest camp demanding political change. Medical officials said four people were killed.

Hours after the attack on Manama's main Pearl Square, the military announced a ban on gatherings, saying on state TV that it had "key parts" of the capital under its control.

Foreign Minister Khalid Al Khalifa justified the crackdown as necessary because the demonstrators were "polarizing the country and" pushing it to the "brink of the sectarian abyss."

see nothing to worry about, your all good, they will not stand back and just let protesters use free speech to change there government...When Violence will work just fine.

I hope they do not let this stop them...but I know you hope it worked. Long live dictators.

Is free speech a right in Bahrain ? Not up on their constitution. Do they even have a constitution ?

Do you think Egypt is happy to be back under stated military control ? You know, just like the military control that set Mubarak up as figurehead ?

And I can't help but wonder what peaceful muslim protesters do to women when they are crabby when thltem when they they sexually assault them when they are glad.

SO you only believe in free speech...if it is given to you by a government document...odd view of rights....

Yes, they actually trust there military, and it was needed to transition to a new government...The old powers could not be trusted...and the Military is the ones who helped them bring down Mubarak by more or less siding with the protesters.

and of course once again 3 weeks of protests...all you can focus on is one sad event...that in no way represents the overall protesters across a nation...also that you have to bring up the "Muslim" part...really did you ask the Attackers what Religion there follow? Also do you even know if they where with the protesters? Or you just guessing then labellings a whole nation and religion for it?

Sovergn country, if they want freedom of speech they can ry and obtain it.

Again, the same military put Mubarek in place 30 years ago. He was told what to do, got pissed at teh foreign reactions and did something else so the coup became a little more public. Still a coup. Pete Townsend may have put it best "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.".

as was pointed out elsewhere, these protests were violent from the start. The molesters were cited as being in good spirits which makes them antii government. They were clearly muslim as they were calling her "jew".

I'm glad you feel soem sense of something over this but you might want to moderate your expectations on the outcome. Nothing is going to change.

I see ..so saying she is a jew...means they are Muslim...no one else could say that nooooo...Basically you have no idea...and you don't even know who they backed...if they where protesters , pro government people, or anything do you? nope. today in Bahrain, a reporter was threated with Rape as well...but the State Security Forces....But you know Egypt's Security people would never do that...( unless you actually looked at the things they did all the time) ...come to think of it, what a good for a bunch of Pro Mubarak supporters to do...get in a crowd and commit a horrible act...since they know nothing will happen to them..and it will be a black eye on the protests..

(2nd note...the people who saved her from the mom...where they not Muslim then?)

And 3 weeks of protest...with little violence...Yes there was some looting when the cops left the streets...but you know what, we have that in when a sports team wins a big game. Why? because its what happens when no one is in charge...

But its fine, you believe that Free Speech is not a human right, or something we should all have...Its only a right if your government gives it to you...

Just say it, you are against Free Speech and Rights for Muslims.. Had this been a Christian nation...you would be all for them. I mean who cares if the government kills a few Muslims asking for Rights...they are not human right?
