At the start of the 20th century a couple of guys travelled around the US selling bottles of coloured water
One was pink and one was blue
They told people that the blue stuff would make pregnant women give birth to a boy and the pink a girl
And here's the genius part
They said that if it doesn't work the customer could have their money back
And as they were right fifty percent of the time they made a fortune
Religion is exactly the same
It is sold -yes literally sold- to people with the promise that if you drink it you will go to heaven
Worse still, if you don't you will go to hell
In this case nobody can come back and ask for a refund because the genius of this fraud is you only find out if it works after you have died
But in principle religion and the sale of coloured water are identical
False hope for suckers at a price that makes the vendor rich
