"The U.S. is facing an unprecedented financial crisis. Perhaps not only it will lose its financial dominant status in the world, but it will lose its economic dynamic. China could seize the chance and replace the U.S. as the No. 1 economic power in the world."

Whew! That MBA certainly did come-in-handy!!

"As soon as he graduated from high school, Goldsmith fulfilled his childhood dream of enlisting in the Army. After his first duty station at Fort Stewart, Georgia, he and the rest of the 3rd Infantry Division deployed to Iraq's Sadr City in January 2005.

Carrying the rank of private at the time, Goldsmith had trained as a forward observer in charge of directing artillery. But once he set foot in Iraq, his job duties shifted.

At first, he was reporting on the sewage, water, electrical and trash systems in the sprawling Baghdad slum of Sadr City. But he soon found himself documenting Iraqi-on-Iraqi violence instead."

Bush will almost certainly be written up as the worst president in US history and may even get the credit for the demise of the US empire.

Which is probably unfair as Cheyney is the real culprit.

Don't they say that Bush has been a heartbeat away from being president?

Bush came to power in a very unsavoury circumstances and it looks like he will leave the same way.

The legacy of Bush is probably the greatest of any US president.

He has totally destroyed the last shred of belief that anyone outside of the US, and probably most US citizens, had in the alleged noble motives of US foreign policy and the alleged complete superiority of capitalism over socialism.

As well, he has accelerated the weakening of the US economy, started by Reagan and maintained by successive presidents to such an extent that, militarily, it can only engage in conflicts with weak, or weakened opponents, and even here will be eventually defeated by people's militias, as it was in Vietnam.

A great man...for marxists.

I believe the Bush legacy will be as the president who proved that neo-con policies do not work and who brought down the GOP. Unless the party is taken over by the true conservatives after this election, I believe the GOP is history.

Every election we hear this. One year the Democrats are collapsing, the next the GOP will implode. Odds are against it.

I don't think you heard this after Clinton's administration.

Many people think Bush lost the subsequent election.

It will not be close enough for the same tricks to be tried this time.

Six years ago or so we heard many times how the Democrat party was falling apart and would implode at any day.

I have never believed either party was about to implode until now. The in-fighting and the lack of leadership is just overwhelming. I may be reading more into what I'm see than is there, but this time I'm not so sure.

All we really know about what Cheney has done is based on suspicion and inuendo. I don't think anyone really knows for sure a single thing he has done since taking office. His penchant for secrecy is downright Stalinesque.

A couple of times, while Bush was being hospitalized for a day or two, Cheney was actually the acting president. The total time in eight years was probably less than a week. It still scares me what he may have done during those times. Will we ever know?

Firstly, I am not a huge Bill Clinton fan, but I think back to where this country was 8 years ago, compared to now...the Bush years have been a decline in the quality of government for sure. I just cant wait until it is over. Either candidate we have now is better than Bush.

In reality, I think it is to early to pass complete judgement this early. Though, I dont think it will take 20 years to figure out that Bush has run us into the ground and we have yet to know the depth of it.

Indeed

Things can only get worse for Bush and they are very bad already.

Maybe that is why so many of his party are defecting to Obama.

Rats and ships.
