My name is Brian, and I have been voting democrat for the past 34 years of my life. I live in Everett, Washington, and enjoy the water, the rain, and the liberal atmosphere of living by the Emerald City.
I must say that I have not seen such a drastically opinionated election like this one where people actually believe on both sides of the parties, that one side or the other is truly going to make or break America in four short years.

Now our nation has endured the terrible and tragic events of 9/11, along with the surprise attack by the Japanese in World War Two, and we survived without so much modern social apprehension of our countries abilities to persevere over our own self-inflicted second guessing of our governmental bodies.

With only jobs and the economy as the main focus of the Presidential Election of 2012, we should count ourselves lucky that with all our seemingly impossible problems of the last decade; they still pale in comparison with what we as a nation have overcome.

My advice to the voters this November on both sides of the political spectrum is to do some old fashioned accounting of our ongoing American blessings, compared with other countries’ political turmoil this year, and calm down enough to make rational choices based on fact; not fear mixed with political propaganda.

The Social Hysteria Political Blog – http://*********************.blogspot.com

Hey Brian, it may be that you need to take a deep breath.

I believe much of this so called 'social hysteria' over this election, is based on propaganda promoted by the political parties and the media. I do not believe Obama and Romney differ very much. Both will continue to pursue an interventionist foreign policy. Both will continue to grow government. Both will continue the welfare state and warfare state without meaningful changes. Both will continue the Crony Capitalist economic policies harmful to most Americans. The banks, big corps, and Wall Street will continue to perpetrate fraud and corruption without consequence. And the slaughter of the truly innocent will persist.

Yes, the candidates have differences, but they are slight. Certainly nothing to get worked up about, particularly if you are a liberal, since either way the election goes, liberalism continues unabated.

If we don't do something about this economy and soon, we can all forget about the rest of our differences. At least one party would like to get it moving back onto more solid ground.

Yes, take a deep breath and throw your ideology out the window this election. If Romney can't get it done - then he failed. Obama has already failed and will push us over that cliff. The choice is simple.

Welcome Brian.

Jobs and the economy have nearly always been the driver of elections and if this one is rather stark in that regard its only because of the incumbent's failure to deliver on that portion of their agenda 4 years ago.

Did anyone watch the movie OBAMA 2016? Love him, hate him, you dont know him.

Very true and good points , It is hard to argue with reason. Thanks for your input, Brian.

I can't vote for BO. He had his chance and proved himself incompetent. Romney may not be any better, but it is advisable to try the new guy in the hopes he can do some good, rather than continue with the old guy, who we know will only do bad

And besides, we know BO is a lying socialist shill and Romney is at least somewhat ethical and honest.

OK, I respect your opinion, but why is socialism such a dirty word for the republican party?
