Syria: they're using chemical weapons...

Israel is pretty small. I don't think it would take very much nuclear material to wipe it off the map, which is exactlty what Iran has promised to do to it over and over again. Auz thinks it's okay for Iran to both have nuclear weapons while at the same time threatening to destroy Israel.

But that's liberalism for you.

Israel must act preemptively because it is such a small nation. One nuclear bomb could destroy much of the country.

Estimates on Iran getting the bomb is NOT something Israel can bank their future on. Such estimates are known to be wrong more often then they are right. For example, remember the many estimates of how great the USSR was going...just before it collapsed.

And to think Iran is not a threat to Israel, is to not think. Iran has made their intentions towards Israel most apparent both verbally (see list below from just one month in August 2012) and in their actions supporting anti-Israel terror groups. And the world should know by now that radical Islamists love killing people in vast numbers...and have a particular love for murdering Jews.

our friend from down under has the Rodney King view of the world... cant we all just get along ?

and while that would be great its just not possible given human nature.

neither is it possible to just mind your own business.

youre only kidding yourself to think otherwise.

Kind of like ignoring the big red mole growing on your nose. The problem with that kind of thinking is like saying all moles are equal....some, if ignored, can become deadly.

Giper and Cruella, I agree that Iran comments about destroying Israel are dabgerous. However do they have the poower to do so. One Atomic bomb might harm Israel but Japan survive two. Israel will not surrender and it and its allies will destroy more of Iran in response. But this will not stop Arab countries getting nuclear weapons.
If is the Mutual threat of Destruction than has kept the peace and prevented any nuclear bomb being used. I am not sure if Iran will play this game but Pakistan, India, France, Britain, the USA, China and Russia have not used nuclear weapons since the warso why is Iran different

making a mistake in your logic. Israel IS small enough that one modern bomb in the right place will prevent an Israeli response. Remember that the two in Japan were are of far lower capacity not to mention that Japan's topography limits the range of destruction. Israel would have to rely on a response from a treaty ally and none of them will launch nuclear strikes due to the MAD scnarios. Iran could very likely wipe Israel iff the map with little consequence. And can you really expect a country that always boasts that its goal is to eliminate a country and its people can think in reasonable terms ? They are not like normal people. They are on a mission from god.

The Israelis are developing an airport security device that eliminates the privacy concerns that come with full-body scanners. It's an armored booth you step into that will not X-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have on your person.

Israel sees this as a win-win situation for everyone, with none of this crap about racial profiling. It will also eliminate the costs of long and expensive trials.

You're in the airport terminal and you hear a muffled explosion. Shortly thereafter, an announcement: "Attention to all standby passengers, El Al is proud to announce a seat available on flight 670 to London. Shalom!"

One Can DreamA dream

Why yes it is ....

It's protecting Obama's interest in arming his muslim brothers with American weapons.

We know now that is what Ambassador Stevens was doing in Benghazi!

Russia is shipping anti-aircraft missiles to Syria. Israel said if they give them to Hezbollah, they will know what to do.

Yes...the Russians would love to bog down America in another useless costly war...and so would our idiotic political class (did you see lil' Johnny McCant secretly visited the rebels over the weekend?) and others of the power elite...who love war.

Are they really that dumb to get involved in Syria?

The Assad regime is deploying foreign fighters from Lebanon and Hezbollah fighters are widely involved in the Syrian civil war. Russia shipped the S-300 air defence systems to Syria to deter Western intervention and imposing a no-fly zone is technically difficult. The lifting of the Syrian arms embargo by the EU opens the door to Britain's military intervention in Syria and supplying arms to the Free Syrian Army would end the stalemate in the protracted conflict, allowing the FSA to take Damascus and ouster Assad.
