Syria: they're using chemical weapons...

Well well... seems Obama has figured out hes screwed the pooch. Badlywants Congress to weigh in now and says it doesnt matter when action occurs. Its fun watching him squirm.

It is not a "bail out", it sends the same message as Obama just doing nothing. The only message that will be sent is that America doesn't have the stomach to respond when their interests are threatened/attacked.
Is that the goal of the military strike being contemplated, sending a message that we do have the stomach to respond, whether or not that response is effective?

no. just the cheapest way to try and get out of the corner BO painted himself into. and everyone knows it. kind of makes it stupider than just changing him mind which only seems flighty as opposed to this which demonstrates stupid and flighty.

Leave it to the right bitch about Obama not doing anything...while saying they want him to not do anything...And of course if he does something will bitch about it...

To bitch about needing congress to give the ok, then bitch about asking congress for the ok.

I am glad you are enjoying the gassing of civilians. what ever you do, make sure you get your political shots in, and fuck worrying about human rights, national security or anything.

it appears that what we are bitching about is the feckless meandering your fellow has been doing for all these many months. again with the illusionary national security claim ? im afraid all that would indicate iwere it true is how even more clueless the clean well spoken kid is.

That's what happens when you paint yourself into a corner. No matter what you do, your opponents will point fingers and complain.

And I see you've done the same, supporting the idea of a military strike in favor of the terrorists who are attacking the dictator. You now on the record supporting them.

There are no good guys in this battle. It's a brutal dictator vs. AlQaeda backed rebels. Taking sides is not an option.

The impotent emperor has no clothes and his supporters are useful idiots. They have snatched victory from defeat while the world watches and laughs.

One of the smartest moves our President has ever made!

The President's speech just now was a brilliant political move. He not only advanced his agenda to attack the Assad regime, he also gave himself an out, should he choose to use it, by including the Congress in his decision to strike. If the Republican House votes not to approve an attack, our President can then, should he choose to do so, cancel his decision and announce he is bowing to the will of the people as represented by their elected representatives.

:ROFLMAO:

if he strikes after congress passes he only emphasizes how he quit of his saying they are unneccsary, then are necessary and again are not when all along they were. he surrendered the excuse of gaving to strike and not enjoying the luxury of time.

we have demonstrated that we will defend our interests, we are hit and miss already on things not really part of our interests (all overit in Libya, who knows on eqypt and total crapshoot in Syria). that whole post described how so. apples and oranges in a nutshell.

We didn't make red line statements in regards to either Libya or Egypt.

Didn't Bush ask for consent of Congress before invading Iraq? What's the difference?

Bush asked with the intention of doing it. Obama is stalling for time as Congress isn't back for 10 more days, but said that even if Congress doesn't want him to, he still has the authority to if he wants to.

My guess is he doesn't want to do this and is looking for Congress to give him the excuse to get out of it, and then if Syria does more gassing (if Assad is the one doing it) then Obama can blame Congress for not being able to bomb them.

Am I the only one that understands Obama's MO?

The British Conservative Prime Minister Cameron put this issue to the vote and it was defeated. The Present Australian Prime Minister Keven Rudd supports intervention but the Liberal Opponent. Tony Abbott. who looks like being elected next week is opposed. Surely the sensible thing to do is to put it to a vote in parliament.
Obama is just doing the same. IF THE republicans want intervention they must vote for and take the blame.

You mean like the Democrats who voted to invade Iraq took the blame? :p

Auz, you don't understand how our politics work. Democrats NEVER take the blame for anything, but they ALWAYS blame the Republicans.
