This is the kind of thing children (liberals) do.
It is what happens when the responsible people all left.
Despite what the children think, fast food restaurants are almost all owned by local people.
You can't increase labor cost by 25% and think nothing is going to happen.
Children think business owners are all $billionaires and can afford to do this... just because.

It’s interesting how one of Gavin’s good buddies owns a chain of Panera restaurants, which are exempt from the $20/hr mandate because of how “bakery” is defined, and are therefore excluded from the mandate. Since they bake bread at Panera, nobody at those restaurants is entitled to Comrade Newsom’s largesse.

I’m sure it’s just a coincidence.

And also, as another report showed, Gavin Newsom's own restaurant he owns only pays $16... and is also exempt.

Some local people are billionaires.
Prices have raised FAR ABOVE the cost of wages recently.

And, it turns out, Panera isn't exempt from the law after all.

The law is written to exclude bakeries and bagel shops who make their own dough and bake it on site — so chains like Subway and Panera, whose dough gets trucked in, wouldn't pass muster.

The law also states that the exception "does not apply if the bread is available for sale solely as part of another menu item."

Newsom no longer participates in the day-to-day operations of his businesses since putting PlumpJack Group into a blind trust after he was elected governor in 2018, his team noted.

“He has no role in any of the holdings that may be held by the blind trust,” a spokesperson for the governor said when contacted by The Post.

The new law applies to restaurants offering limited or no table service that are part of a chain with 60 or more locations nationwide.

It raises the minimum by $4 an hour from the previous $16 an hour base pay.

PlumpJack Group operates four restaurants and bars and four wineries, according to its website, and therefore it’s far below the standards to meet the $20-hour wage

Panera is hugely expensive, a bowl of soup sells for $12.95, and they have the gall to pit a tip jar at the register. I have been there precisely once: no more.

...A review of economic analyses spanning thirty years shows an
“overwhelming majority” of studies find minimum wage hikes cause job loss, in part because affected establishments are forced to close. Another study published by Harvard Business School finds every $1 increase in the minimum wage increases the likelihood of business closure by 14 percent...

...Areas debuting new wage hikes in 2023 were not immune. Media recaps of the outgoing year have one thing in common: rising costs are forcing restaurants and other businesses to shutter for good. See how these consequences played out in real time across the country...

...The Seattle Times documents “significant blows” to the city’s dining scene, documenting at least 30 restaurant closures in the city this year...

That's a stunning data point from Harvard.

Link: California Burger King franchisee to expedite self-serve kiosks rollout over $20 wage law

A businessman who owns 140 Burger King franchises in California will slash workers’ hours and expedite the rollout of self-service kiosks to cut down on labor costs in response to the state’s new $20 minimum wage.

Harshraj Ghai, who owns 180 fast-food restaurants throughout the Golden State, including Burger King, Taco Bell and Popeyes, told Business Insider last week: “We can’t move fast enough on this [rollout].”

“We have kiosks in probably about 25% of our restaurants today,” he said. “However, the other 75% are going to have kiosks in the next probably 30 to 60 days.”...

The remaining employees who are getting their hours "slashed" - do you think they'll be making more or less thanks to Comrade Newsom?

In California, a Foster’s Freeze location closed and laid off its workers due to a new $20 per hour minimum wage that took effect April 1st..

... The assistant manager said the owner could no longer afford the higher salaries...

I find I have little sympathy. Y'all voted for Newsom & his fellow Marxists to call the shots. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
I agree. People should be made to work for a pittance. Any dissent should be dealt with by capital punishment immediately. It's intolerable that working class Democrat voters should prosper and buy homes etc. The whole fabric of society has broken down.
There's no doubt those pillaging hordes of Marxists are totally responsible and it should be exposed all over the internet. USA can't afford unwashed masses dictating terms. It's against gods will of allowing slavery.

How did I go mark? Sound familiar?

So you are all for Harshraj Ghai, who has 140 restaurants?
Are you in favor of his employees living indoors as well?
